Looking for a reef safe angelfish

Flame, Bellus and Bandit.
Flame and Bandit do some on and off nipping but only to the good of the SPS as they grow better and more compact.

Coral Beauty and a Bi-color presently. No problems so far. Kept a Red Flame in the past with no problems also. None of them are "Truly Reef Safe" but it does seem like certain ones don't mess with things.

I love my mated pair of Watanabei angels. They should be reef safe as I am in the early stages of my rebuild and don't currently have any corals in the tank.

All Genicanthus are zooplanktivores and thus considered reef safe. I've had pretty good luck with both Coral Beautys and Flames in a reef. And Emperors, Blue Girdled and Regals in SPS only.

Had an emperor that ate zoas, currently have an aiptasia eating flagfin, a small Red Sea regal and a black spot swallowtail. The flagfin, which I have had for almost ten years, has a handful of corals that it deemed appetizing over the years but usually when I first put the coral in the tank. For the most part it's been a model citizen though it is top fish in the tank.

I have an emperor and a lemon peel. Neither are model citizens. Lemon peel nips at SPS from time to time. Emperor actually bites the tips off SPS. He only does it to certain corals though. He often "trims" my blue matrix. I've noticed he does this if I cut back on feeding. I try to keep him stuffed with nori.

He doesn't touch shrooms, or euphylia. He will mow down gsp and will eat the flesh right off of chalices.

That said, he's pretty awesome and I'm not even remotely considering getting rid of him.

How about a Queen in an SPS only?

Never tried it, but I think a Queen would work in an SPS. However, they grow pretty fast and can get aggressive once they reach adulthood. Most of the "babies" I've bought have turned into 6" adults within two years.

I really wanted these but I've never been able to find a pair so I settled for the swallowtails

my Lamarck's angel. planktivore so it won't harm any coral, but mine is becoming the bully of the tank.

So Angels nipping at your SPS is a good thing?

Was considering Swallowtail for new 54 corner, but I've been falling in love with the Multibar at our store... Ive read positive things about the Multibar in a reef, anyone have experience with this one? Have had good success with flames and coral beauties in the past.
Also, you're so charming Lou! Great vid.

I have tried and had no luck in a reef tank with the Multibar, Flame, Golden, Eibli, Bi-Color,and Coral Beauty's lol. I have given up on all Angels.

I've had this beauty for a few weeks, he's been pecking at my stunner chalice, which is ok because it's the size of a basketball. But he's my favorite fish (other than my purple). Plus I couldn't pass up a 6" majestic for 120. The other sad thing is he only eats flakes nothing else. image.jpg
