looking for ideas to mount dc power supplies

i am changing out my entire electrical layout. planning on mounting everything to plywood above the tank. i have several dc pumps and i am looking for different ways to mount the power supplies to the plywood.

Are you mounting open frame (metal mesh) or desktop (black plastic) power supplies?
I am assuming these are the regular adapters that came with the pumps. I have used plastic strapping material eyelet mount zipties or even velcro.
What resources do you have available for fabrication? You can 3D print holders, make some out of acrylic or plywood.

Here's what I did with my Vortech power supplies.....1/4 plywood partitioned holders:

One note of caution, make sure you measure each power supply. After building the above, I found out that Vortech has at least three different power supply sizes / cord arrangements. I had to modify the above to fit the power supplies.


Here it is reworked and installed in the cabinet.

Well then, two suggestions:

1. Velcro. Attach Velcro to the back of each power unit and the other portion on your stand. What I don't like about this option is that it could potentially let loose.

2. Zip Ties. Drill two holes through the back of the stand (or a mounting board) that is the width of the power units. Using a zip tie, attach the power unit to the stand.

You can also use velcro cord wraps. You could screw/glue/staple directly to the stand and wrap around the power supplies.

No good way to go about it unless you build a board and run all the wiring through the back so only the important stuff is on the front. If you wanted it to look as nice as your display tank that's what I would do. I used plastic wire fasteners that clamp and drilled holes and ran zip ties around through the holes. At least it keeps all the cords together. If you have an apex make sure you keep the probe cords away from the other stuff when running them.

i looked at the ones at brs. i need to mount 6 so pricey for something that will rarely be seen. thanks for all the ideas so far.

I used Velcro pads. I have the 4 power cord blocks for my Kessils mounted to the wall with 3"x 4" Velcro pads. Still rock solid and haven't worked loose. The only one that fell off the wall was because of my mistake of covering the sticker on the power block with the Velcro pad. Eventually the sticker peeled away and the block fell off the wall.

I use either 3m industrial Velcro. Or that stele stapping pipe hanger stuff that's flexible and full of screw holes

I bought some cheap peg board, put it on the back of a cheap cabinet I bought and then used zip ties to attach my bricks to the back and then put the controllers on the inside of the cabinet. Works amazingly well and all my electrical is in a separate location now too.

I used plastic "plumber's tape" and mounted them to their own plywood board, then mounted the board inside my cabinet. I screwed the plastic plumber's tape down with small stainless steel wood screws with cup washers (all from Ace Hardware).

Very nice and organized.
"Plumber's Tape" can be found at the big box stores, look for plastic pipe hanging strap.

I'm mounting all my electronics in a separate metal enclosure with aluminum backplate. It will be positioned next to the tank stand.
