Looking for Skimmer Recommendations

Hi! I’m currently using an Octo Classic 200 INT which works great! But the loud humming sound it makes drives me absolutely crazy! Any skimmers out there you recommend that are actually quiet?

Anything DC would be good. Heard good things about Simplicity skimmers if you have a tight budget, otherwise the NYOS is supposed to be super quiet.

Have you had a look at the bubble king skimmers from royal exclusive? My supermarin 250 rd3 speedy is easily the best skimmer I’ve had in my 20 years in the hobby and I’ve had most brands at one time or another.

I have the Octo Classic 150 INT and it's perfectly quit. My stand is open. Mine will get noisy which means the pump needs to be cleaned. Do a citric acid powder water bath for the pump or buy a new DC pump. Did you buy a used unit or was this new?

My NYOS is very quiet, I have ran the 160 and now upgraded to the 220, both quiet.

go dc if you want the most quiet skimmers, the dalua skimmer looks very good. If you want AC go with ultra reef akula as it has the best build quality hands down.
I ran a Nyos previously and hated the noise it put out (high pitch whine), talked it over with the guys a tjm corals (island fish and scale) and throughout their entire time servicing tanks even they warn people about the annoying sound the Nyos make
Before the nyos I ran an eshopps axium 120, I would say it performed not as well as the nyos but much better sound overall, annoying that the water level gate floats though

Essence 130 is quiet and I am picky with noise. I tried others like the Octo 110sss and Red Sea 300 and they drone with a bass like noise that bugged me across the room.

Also the Nyos are so overrated and not worth the price which has gone up a LOT. It drones. I guess some people just are not sensitive to deep bass droning noise.

couldnt agree more, the plastics on it are so strong even the skimmer cup should be considered a deadly weapon lol (I weighed my alkula 160 cup at around a pound without the lid)

got my nyos at a reefapalooza raffle, agreed its not worth it, mine was more or a very high pitch wine though

Honestly to the OP. If your skimmer works for you but is too loud... swap the pump for a better more quiet pump of the same rating and size if possible. Not only will it be more quiet but it will probably perform better. Lol.
You might need to lower the water level and skim a little dryer but eh

they are by far the best build quality for any skimmer so no worrying about crazing on acylic or replacing. You really need to see one in person they are awesome

I'd like to. All I can think of is beer. Lol. Ulta or Ultra. Idk why. Lol!
After owning my lifereef and this division skimmer I'm hoping to never buy a skimmer again. Lol.

what would work for a heavy bioload for a 75G? i was leaning towards an essence 130, but was looking for other options..

Division 250. Will allow you to upgrade as well. I also recommend the addition $30 2nd pump kit and a small sicce water feed pump. Will allow it to run recirculation. Hths @shakacuz
