So I got this reverse superman monti..

It sat at the bottom for awhile moved it up and up again then come home to this? Bleaching?

Lfs owner said looks like something took a bite out of it.

So any advise what I should do? I have 2250 hydor and a 1200 Marineland for flow and my pars at the very top of my structure don't even meet 400 par..

Running 2 16 inch sbreef thinking about switching to t5.

Seems like coral just don't wanna live in my tank..
I wanna tear it down and start over.. it's becoming that much of an issue for me.. I love my tank and I love learning.. I don't wanna tear down for good. Just a fresh start.

All water parameters have been fine.

Thanks everyone.
Coral dying is getting old

Do you have other coral near this one? It doesn't appear to be from light. Looks more like a sting or something else. The color looks good. Purple Haze Monti?

Had it by a horn coral which I know are stinging coral but mine done extend to far.. and I don't think it grew an extra 2 inches and retracted it back. But I could be wrong.

That's weird that you have a problem with dying coral given your parameters are fine. What kind of substrate are you using? I wonder if that has anything to do with it

From what I see it is not dying, on the lower bottom of the Coral looks like new growth but on top looks like it has been munched on by a Nuti.

Carribean Hawaiian black I believe.

Could either of these tangs may have picked at its they do pick at some corals here and there. But I've never seen anything like this

Moved the horn further away will leave it all there. Maybe the horn did sting it. I'll keep an eye on it. Hope it just has a battle scare and it all will be ok. Haha thanks everyone.

Been through the dying coral thing and the fish dying and the fish jumping out of the tank. Don't give up guy cause it's all worth it when that tank looks fabulous
Keep on trucking

Keep you water chemistry right and it will heal quickly. An iodine dip may help it heal quicker. Their pretty fast growers.

What Ligjts are your running? What chemistry are you running? What are your parameters? These answers will help figure out what is going on and we can lead you to a successful tank.

The tangs are algae, yes frozen but not coral eaters.

@jsker
Lights are 16 inch SBREEF. Classic.
Whites are at 35%
Blues are 80%
Lights are 9.5 inches off the water.
Did do a part reading I would take a picture of the picture I drew but when I left to return the par meter my dog decided to eat the paper.. so I'm kinda back in the dark.

Salinity 1.025
Kh - 10 drops (api)
Ph - 8.4. (Api)
Nitrite - 0. (Api)
Nitrate - 5-10. (Api)
Phosphate not 0 but lowest reading on red sea. Lfs tested it.
Ammonia- 0 (salifert)

All readings have been pretty consistent.
Not a lot of calcium corals so haven't tested for it lately. Just got the montipora and a acro.

I don't have an ato I know I need one but trying to get one for a good deal.
So my Salinity does have a little spike.
I do only have to replace about 3 quarts a day.

Any thing else I will answer to what I know..
Tank is still newer

Your doing everything right, I would kick back and watch the monti. Nitrates are a little high but should settle in with a little more age on your system. Suggestion I would bump the light up to 100% blue and 46% on the whites.

Ok they are turned up to those specs :)

As for the Nitrates I can't seem to get them down past that. I've done huge water changes I've not fed the tank. .. I have a brown algea thinking it's diatoms? It appears everyday I clean it off with batter and poof it's right back there.. glass rock corals. Seems to be light fed due to its on the c2c overflow a ton.... I've read black the tank out and not do anything..

Would it disappear in time?

The red on the dead part of this coral.. could it be spiralina (sp?) Just wondering as I'm looking it up myself. Still learning.

You should invest in quality test kits before buying more coral. How long has this tank been set up? I had 3 of my stony corals start to look like this but even worse when I had an alkalinity swing of 1.3 dkh higher than its norm (8.3). What salt brand are you using?
I really like the Sailifert test kits. I buy mine off of amazon. I went down the API road when I first started as well so don't feel bad. Once your cycle is over you will not need to test for ammonia and nitrite.
One more, how long do you run your lights everyday?
