I want to buy an RO/DI system since I just seem to keep adding tanks and running to the LFS for water 25 gallons a time is a pain... So can anyone recommend a good RO/DI system I can install that is affordable (around the 150ish mark) Thanks!

I got a ro-102 from water general. I have had it for about 6months now and it works Great. (0 tds) I got it from ebay for $132.

I bought this one and have had it for a year. I love it still reading 0 tds and 4 going into the di. Our water is pretty good here only 88 right out of the tap so im sure thats why I still have good numbers. I make a fair amount of water for my 265.

Bulk Reef Supply has a RO/DI special on their site right now, i'd definitely check them out it is well worth it! I love my BRS RO/DI!!

spectrapure makes good units and you can get the refurb ones for $128. They have better sed and carbon filters than most however filter replacements are a bit pricier as well.

Not one mentioned yet even comes close.
Find another vendor that tests everfything they sell in a lab and in real world beta testing for years before it is offered for sale. If they don't find it they build it them selves and hold many copyrights, trade marks and patents to prove it. They specially treat each and every RO membrane to improve its performance then either batch or individually test them for quality control, no dry off the shelf untested membranes. The custom blend evey ounce of DI resin and offer several reef specific resins blended and packaged fresh daily. Check out the micron ranges and lifespans of their sediment and carbon block filters compared to the others mentioned.
You will not find a better system at any price and with the better components it will last longer and end up costing you much less to own and operate over time. Ask any of the thousands who own one.

+1 Spectrapure

After trying a few different brands I went with the maxcap system, their filters seem to last longer, I mean significantly longer.

Can't argue with that! :D

for the price you cant beat watergeneral or purewaterclub.I have owned both and am currently running a 150gpd from purewaterclub.I will say i liked the one from watergeneral better though.

Purewaterclub.com. I just ordered a 5 stage rodi unit with extra filters, (free). TDS meter and a faucet connector, shipped for $135. You can't beat that deal. Mine will be here tomorrow.

to bad you dont live closer to wisconsin there is a guy on craigslist that has one for 50 bucks 3 stage coralife 55gpd ro/di unit

Pure water club is not even close in quality, remember you get what you pay for with RO and RO/DI.
Ask them what brand membranes they use, they don't tell you. Ask them what brand and micron sizes their filters are, often again they don't tell you. They do not use capillary tube flow restrictors, they do not treat and test their membranes, they do not blend their own fresh DI resin, many don't come with a pressure gauge and many of their systems still use cheap compression fittings rather than john guest style speed fittings.

Forget the word "stages" even exists. It does not mean a hill of beans but is a way to make a mediocre system sound like the best thing since sliced bread. Remember every "stage" you add in front of the membrane has an associated head loss. More stages is more detrimental than good. 4 good stages far surpasses 5 or 6 or 7 bad or mediocre stages every day of the week. Reduced pressure from extra stages reduces the efficiency of the membrane.
You don't want nor need two so-so carbons when on good low micron one will do a better job. You do not want a high micron nominal rated sediment filter when a low micron absolute rated one does 10x the job of protecting the carbon block. You don't want two or three little dinky horizontal hollow tubes of resin when one 20 oz vertical will last 3 0r more times longer and work better since it does not channel or short circuit.

You really do get what you pay for and thats not where you want to be, been there done that and would never send a friend of fellow hobbyist down that road.

^I do agree that you do get what you pay for and that your ro/di unit is not the best place to skimp to save a few bucks...

I like the units from BRS. The price is not that bad and the quality is good.

So I just won an aquafx 100 gpd Ro/di unit at the space coast reef conference... Any thoughts on that brand?

Average quality. Make sure it does not have the 100 GPD Dow Filmtec membrane. The 100 Dow is NOT and RO membrane but is in fact a nano filter rated at only 90% removal and designed for Pool and Spa Use Only per the ANSI/NSF testing organization. A 75 GPD Dow Filmtec membrane is designed for drinking water use and is 96-98% rejection rate meaning DI resin will last 3 or 4 times longer per cartridge.
