Lost another fish

I don't know why your firefish died as I can't see him from here. I personally would autopsy him, but that's just me.
When I buy a firefish I take him home and gently take him out of the bag so as not to stress him. Then to save time, I throw him on the floor because every one of them I ever had, jumped out.

Sorry the little guy croaked.

Oddly enough, TTM is my preferred method for QT-ing firefish and other small fish.

The problem, I think, is we are "living in the age of velvet" - which TTM does not treat. @Brew12 and I have had some conversations about this. Velvet is running rampant right now through the wholesale facilities with no end in sight. :( Even worse, it is becoming less & less common for a fish with velvet to show physical evidence (white dots/dust); oftentimes you will only see key behavioral symptoms of velvet:
  • Reduced or complete loss of appetite.
  • Heavy breathing, rubbing, flashing, head twitching, erratic swimming behavior (unfortunately velvet shares all these same symptoms with ich & gill flukes.)
  • Swimming into the flow of a powerhead (unique to velvet).
  • Acting reclusive (velvet causes fish to be sensitive to light).
I cannnot agree or stress the accuracy of this enough, for the casual reader.

I laughed out loud at this because there's a lot of truth to it and I didn't see it coming.
