Got a few anemones that I would like folks' thoughts on....

First I have two blue gig anemones.

Next I have a Mag anemone. I ammost suspicious about this one.

Can folks give me their thoughts on whether my LFSs sold me the right species?

Here are more pictures of the "Mag". I am a bit concerned that this might just be a BTA....

The first two are gigantea and that is a magnifica. For the gigantea you should see the foot column and confirm the veracue.

These two are most likely Gigantea. There should be verrucae on the columns
This look more like a BTA. If you can give picture of the mouth, then we know for sure. BTA have the bulb below the tip of the tentacles. The tentacles have a nipple appearance at the end like this anemone. Magnifica can have bulb also but these bulbs are at the end of the anemone. Like the one in the picture below.
If it is the same anemone, then I would say it is a Magnifica due to the later pictures

That is a mag. It has bulbs at the tip of the tentacles as Magnifica should have. Also the oral plate does not have at least one white line radiated from the mouth which is characteristic of BTA.

:) THAT IS MY STORY AND I AM STICK TO IT. :)

Besides the pictures of the blue gigs, the other pictures are all if the same anemone. Like you, when i saw the bulbous tips I thought it was a Mag. But once I started light acclimating it, the pointy tips started to form...

So your verdict is Mag and not BTA? If so, Im a happy camper, if not, would be upset the LFS sold me a BTA instead of a Mag.

I agree with OrionN. 2 gigs and a BTA.

I think he is saying that it is a Mag? The non Gig pictures are of the same anemone.

Is there a reason you lean to BTA other than the slightly pointy tips?

I am going to start Cipro treatment on all three nems tonight and I hope that as all Nems get healthier and survive the treatment, it will become more apparent their ID especially this Mag/BTA oddball

Sorry. I misunderstood. I still think 2 gigs and a BTA. I’d push all my chips in on the betting table. If it’s a mag you want I hope it turns out to be, but I’d still push all my chIps in on BTA. MAYBE I would lose, but...sorry...

I am torn so we will have to wait and see as it settles in and I can get better pictures.

Just noticed that most of the tentacles have a small dot at the tip. Some of them form a pointy tip towards this "dot" while the more bulbous ones just have a visual dot on the tip.

To my eyes, it’s a BTA. IF I was you, I would ask the LFS to order a mag if that’s what you were sold. I strongly think it’s a BTA. I’ve had many. I’ve had both. I could be wrong, and I’m ok being proven wrong, but I don’t think I am. Yes, time will tell...

2 Gigs and a Mag, never seen a BTA with that many or that dense of tentacles, this includes even some of my huge Shermans that get better than 15" when full grown, they still don't have that many.

The two carpets appear to have purple/blue spots on its stalk. I believe this confirms that they are gigs?

I am starting to lean more towards Mag for the third anemone. During lights out cipro treatment, the nem gets well inflated and its tentacles are more like a Mag. But when its day time and the lights are on, the tentacles start to bubble up. Also noteable mention is that the Nem seems to be dropping tentacles while in QT with Cipro (today will be day 4 of treatment)

Mines is also dropping tentacles in treatment also. But it’s dropping it by getting it tangled with each other and then getting knotted up and falling off. Otherwise it looks good. Here is mines at day 2 of treatment.
