So I thought I would start a new thread for this. A little less than a month ago I got a small bleached Mag and it’s been doing will with no treatment as of yet. Then a few days ago I bought another Mag that was bigger but not doing as well and is in its third day of treatment and is looking up.
Today I went back to the LFS for some more salt because of the 100% water changes. When I got there the owner showed me one he had sold and the customer Thursday and brought it back on Saturday not knowing what to do or what was happening. He asked me to take it home and see if there was anything I could do but I think it might be too late.

Yikes, I’d start treatment, it’s possible it could recover. Good luck!

Treatment started last night at 7pm. Here is a picture this morning around 12 hours of treatment

The mouth looks a little bit better. Make sure you have a lot of flow (and powerheads are safe guarded). I’m rooting for you.
I know some of the guys have had success ‘force inflating’ nems. I can’t give any advice on how/if/when to attempt. Perhaps the folks below can chime in?
@Taylor t , @Nemguy123, @OrionN , @Jekyl , @Eagle_Steve

I hate to say it but this little guy doesn’t look like it will make it. I went ahead with day 2 of treatment because it still responds to light but it responds minimal at best

It’s hard to tell from the pic, is it inflated some? It looks just a little puffier than the pic from this morning. If so that would be at least a small positive sign.

Sorry for the bad picture.. no that’s the foot to the side

Does it smell like death?

I have had them come back from that with treatment and purges when doing 100% water changes daily.

Purges are letting the nem sit in tank when doing 100% water change, then letting sit until it spits all the water out it can, then sucking that out to.

I have also had to do 2-3 water changes and sometimes more. If water gets slightly cloudy, I change it l.

I’ve been doing 100% water changers twice a day with this little guy...once at lights out and once when I wake up for work. I Haven’t been fully purging it like you described but will do starting with tonight’s water change.

And here it is after the water change

Doesn’t look any better but also doesn’t look much worse. I did notice this morning too that the Mag does have damage to the foot and column and a few tentacles. Plus I forgot to mention that the LFS owner said he talked to the guy that bought it and unfortunately for this little Mag the person who bought it is new to the hobby and didn’t even have the tank up a week. So if this little guy pulls through I will offer to buy it off the guy rather than give it back or hold it until they get there tank together and learn some more

If it survives, factor in your time and costs, so the new reefer can learn the effort, cost, and care that should be considered before purchasing an animal. Really the guy should offer it to you after all your efforts. Good luck, not getting worse is definitely a positive sign.

Well I hate to sound negative but I think it’s almost dead. While moving it to clean the tank it felt extra mushy and was almost falling apart. I will still continue treatment but at this point it doesn’t look bright.

On another note the LFS called me and asked if I could try to save another Mag. This one is from the same batch the above one came in. They also arrived with my second Mag but I was able to treat it earlier and is looking well. This new one never left the store so maybe it has more hope in recovering but is still pretty rough. It’s foot is firmly locked on 2 rocks which is a pain but I am afraid to try to get it to release with it’s current condition. Store owner said if I can save it it’s mine too

Best of luck on them. Sounds like there's still hope.

So it’s sad to say but the Mag is officially dead. I was checking on everything and it was falling to pieces.

Can’t really see it in the picture but the Mag is basically split in half on one side
