SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS- WAS A GORGEOUS FISH !!
Thank you. He was a great fish! This is the second one I’ve owned in over 15 years. They are very hardy fish but I’ve been bit unlucky. The first pink tail trigger was about 4 inches and I had for many years. He died due to choking on Nori. Completely unexpected. He swallowed the nori and it ended up getting stuck in his gills and throat and I couldn’t save him. He had ate nori a bunch of times before and was completely fine. And I’ve had other triggers and puffers eat and nibble at nori with no problem. He was one of the first fish I lost and since then I hesitate feeding nori. And this is my second one which died from this insane abscess.

Ah, yeah, I meant to add clove oil to a medication cabinet. Sorry if I upset you by talking about euthanasia, but I thought it might be useful in case anyone else with a similar problem finds this. An infection like that is the sort of situation where euthanasia is probably a good idea, since it's not something that can viably be treated. Sometimes all you can do with a sick or injured animal is put it out of its misery.
Sorry this worked out so poorly- would have loved to see that he just had something minor and easily treatable. The dissection photos are interesting.
