Making the Switch

He should be a bluenose soon if not already . Great life . Just don't get married unless u know she loves you (4 sure ) .
I was a victim of divorce and saw way too many occur . I guess I was hard headed when they told me "if Uncle Sam wanted u to have a wife , He would have issued u one. I also ignored the jokes behind the extra pair of socks that were issued to all us sailors. ;)
enjoy your new tank n I will quit jacking ur thread

Haha well, i've got about 6 months left so we'll see what happens with that!

I ran a 20 gallon system for a couple months until i upgraded to a 90 gal system. This is what i ran:

Heater - 300w on 69 degrees (as long as water is around 78 you're fine!)
2 210-250 gph powerheads (i had 1 koralia 210 and 1 maxijet 900)
1 HOB Filter for media (Fluval 50 with poly pad, chemi pure elite (HIGHLY SUGGEST!), and purigen)
1 HOB skimmer (bakpak biofilter)
~20 lbs of live rock
1/2" of live sand
ZooMed AquaSun quad T5HO light

How did that light work out for you? I was looking at the Current Orbit LED since I have a shallow tank.

the light worked wonders! corals all grew and were super happy! never got hot either which was a bit of a surprise. The light fit right over the lips of the tank so no need to suspend it or anything

I believe my tank is just about cycled ( 0 ammonia and nitrites, about 5 or 8 ppm nitrates). Also got my sump up and running! Pics are entailed. Also, I think I'm going to go with the AI prime for my light selection. Only thing left equipment wise is ATO, heater, and skimmer.

Cool man. Probably about to order a AI Prime myself

Your needs will depend on your wants. A small reef tank and you can find an all in one filter skimmer. Canister filters are ok too. The lights are important if you want any corals or anemones. The new LEDs are great. Good luck and remember don't rush. Give your new tank time to mature.
