Mallette's Sumpless 55G

I can never get over how intelligent fish can be. The Adornatus has realized nothing can get into his acclimation box and has spent majority of the day pestering the blue damsel that was raging out yesterday. Hardly any aggression from the damsel now but the wrasse is definitely attempting to provoke it into rumbling.

A few pics. From this afternoon :)

They really are amazing creatures!

So the only patch of algae i have in my tank is my Birdsnest. And i feel kind of bad for it. Its growing like a weed but some of its branches are at constant war with a frogspawn and a pavona. And the entire middle of the colony died months ago when my Alk was sky high. Might be fragging time.

Had to attach a pic of my cat Kitty. He always gives me the stink eye any time im doing anything tank related.

Work has been crazy hectic lately sorry about all the short post. Or lack of posts. Im a manager at a restaurant and we are in the process of opening a second location so training is crazy currently. But 3 days off lots of posts to come. And with any luck some new corals this week. Fingers crossed.

As far as tank updates go. Everything is still coasting along nicely. Everything is growing and coloring up like crazy. Only weird thing im finding is how little this tank is consuming calcium compared to what my 30g did. Im dosing .2dkh a day of alkalinity. So ived decided to start dosing reef trace to see if my uptake will increase. I rarely do waterchanges so im sure some trace elements are getting depleted 5 months in. I just hate dosing for things i dont test. So will start with 10ml a week spread out over a couple of days so i dont jack up any levels. Recommended dosage is 10ml/20g twice a week.

Released my Adornatus last night. Had some issues with one of my Blue Damsels so i caught it and will b putting it in a 10g for the rest of its life :) Attempting to catch its partner today. Was surprisingly easy since its home was a pvc elbow with a cap at one end. Everything seems alot more content with the blue devil out as well. Fragged one of my candy canes last night so moving some things around tonight and doing a waterchange on the Sailfins QT.

2 more weeks til my lil Desjardini can be put in acclimation in my DT. Im excited to say the least! Now that the one blue devil is gone the only aggression in the tank is between my Powder Brown and my Clarkii. Which to be totally honest my Clarkii is a 10/10 when it comes to aggression so she needs to be kept in check so im kinda happy the Powder Brown has assumed that role. He comes out of it with bite marks and she comes out of it with nipped fins and a chill attitude for a day or 2. Nothing new or too serious. The Powder Brown is a beast so ive never been worried about him when it comes to infections or bruises. Everything tends to clear up within a day or 2 naturally. Plus system has never had a sign of ich or parasites. So fingers crossed now that im doing proper QT i will never experience such a thing :)

Alright i must admit for this being my first clam i think its doing fairly well! Doesnt want to stay where i like it though so it will stay where it is til it moves again. Plus some pics of a cpl of my favias looking all starved for food even though im still feeding daily :P

I think i need to clean my pico tank. What does everyone think? Some of the pink coralline is almost a quarter inch thick in spots lol

Its been a crazy hectic week. Havent done a thing to my tank since last week aside from top up evap water and dose alkalinity. So today is test day, glass cleaning, possible waterchange and im more than likely going to do some moving of corals and trimming today. My birdsnest is starting to look fairly ugly and beat up so im going to frag it up and get rid of all the algae. As well as move it i think, its at constant war with a pavona and my frogspawn. All of its dead branches are covered in hair algae and too tightly spaced for any of my cuc to get at. Will post pics later. Sorry for lack of posts.

Not much has really changed in my tank in the past month or so aside from things starting to fill in. And i need more rock to provide some more tranquil areas. All of my tank is moderate to high flow currently so need to address that soon. I also altered my lighting schedule so will post it later in the day(no ill effects over the past 2 weeks that its been running).

I have spaghetti worms absolutely everywhere right now and cant decide if its a good thing or not. They dont seem to irritate any of my coral just like vermetids dont seem to bother anything i have nor seem to really balloon out of control. Tempted to get a melanarus wrasse in the next couple of months as my last fish addition before letting things grow out for a couple of months before setting up my 180g. Im terrible at making decisions... lol
