Mallette's Sumpless 55G

Sailfin looks infinitely more active and happy today. I left full dose of prazipro in water for 24 hours then did a 100% waterchange and dosed stability to ensure bacterial breakdown of ammonia. No plans to run anything else prophylactically unless i see signs of anything. No flukes present after a quick FW dip yesterday either. So with luck the lil guy only had intestinal parasites.

He knows im the hand that feeds him now and will take nori out of my hand. Has also taken to my Fauna Marin pellets. So seems to be eating everything i feed my DT. I dont rly see a need to feed it frozen mysis or rotifers since hes enjoying the nori. Anything you would be doing differently @Brew12 @Humblefish?

Also my Adornatus seems to be regrowing his pectoral fin much quicker now that he has some rays forming. Hopefully he'll be up to par within the next month or so.
That is fantastic!

Since you know what to look for, and obviously spend a lot of time watching him, I think observation is a very good route for you to go.

Did you do a second round of Prazipro, 5-7 days after the first?

It is required to kill any "hatchlings" before they can lay eggs of their own.

Nope will be doing that in 5-7 days however to make sure the worms are gone. Sorry forgot to mention that in the previous post :) Round 1 just ended 5 hours ago so round 2 will b on thursday for 24 hours.

A few pics of the Sailfin. Just transfered him over. The lil guy didnt mind me hand catching him at all. And was out lookin for food within 30 seconds of going into the new QT.

And i noticed today my Clam is growing like crazy! Hard to tell from pic but has grown a good 1/4 inch of new shell in the past 2 weeks.

So realized today i am feeding like crazy now that im feeding my corals daily. And have had my skimmer offline for 3 days. With no plans to put it back online til monday. Needed a thorough cleaning and i got lazy. So a 24 hour soak turned into a 72 hour soak and i dont plan to finish it tonight. Still no signs of algae. Aside from the ever present hair algae in the middle of my Birdsnest which i dont really care about. It doesnt seem to affect the Birdsnest and isnt growing at all. If anything is slowly receding. Seems to have popped up where it was STN'ing months ago on the dead skeleton.

Thanks Mark. Hopefully can last to the year mark in August before upgrading... but seriously doubtful at this point... lol
I also have a 55 going now it has only been up a little while have 1 fish and a small frag of leather going

I transfered majority of my critters. But love starting all coral from frags to see the growth. Not a big fan of buying big already mature colonies. And the Powder Brown will out grow this setup within 12 months so upgrade is already chillin in the basement purchasing items for it as i have money :)

Yeah me to, I have a 90 gallon that has never had water in it almost everything I have except for the lights on the 55 are stuff I has stored from when I got out 10 years ago. Good luck your tank looks good

My Dendro has started to open earlier and earlier now that im feeding alot more. Which i really like. My Alveopora also seems to be enjoying it so far. Going to target feed lps pellets tonight so should have some happy coral tomorrow.

Just noticed my Powder Brown eating a piece of byssal thread from my clam. I saw i floating around last night never thought something would eat it. So looking forward to see a "cat pooping out tinsel" experience. Ill keep an eye on him but he should be alright

A few random dark corners pics of the random things ya dont rly see unless ya go behind the tank. I rarely clean the back glass or the back inch of the tank. So lots of random life back there.

Got my Adornatus into my DT in an acclimation box. Just a tupperware container with holes drilled in it and an easy to close lid. One of my Blue Devils raging out hard but seems like the Adornatus wants to rumble.

Blues only are on currently so sorry for the drab looking pics.

Sailfin seems to be doing excellent in QT. Second round of Prazi today. And the lil guy will not stop eating. Biofilter is keeping up like a champ no ammonia. And less than 2ppm of nitrates hurray! Have only vacuumed the bottom once since moving him to the 15g. But filter floss changed daily. No signs of any other ailments so far!

Blue Devilhas calmed down some today. And the Adornatus really wants out to get his place in the tank setup. But im going to keep him in there for a day or 2 longer sine the Blue Devil really lives up to its name.

This guy has one awesome personality! And has gotten over the usual dislike of me after handling and is active all day especially when im wearing red. It would seem most nights i wear red pajama pants so hes come to associate red with food :)

Put my skimmer back online this afternoon. Must be some dissolved organics in the water because it is going crazy. So skimming wet for the night. Probly skim out a gallon or 2 then adjust it. Forgot how well this skimmer actually works when its nice and clean. Kinda miss my reef octopus but not willing to run a sump on this tank so itll stay stored for my 180g.

Decided to throw a cpl small powerheads in the back to get as much detritus up and moving as possible. Plus turkey basted the hell out of the rocks. Created a nice little sandstorm of gunk n bubbles. Going to throw some filter floss on the PP8 for a cpl of hours. Dont really feel like lifting buckets of water tonight. And corals and fish are acting like they're at an all you can eat buffet so ill keep turkey basting the rocks every hour til bed.
