So keep hearing this clicking noise from my tank and now all of sudden something keeps spooking my fire fish cause he keeps darting from inside the rocks to the front of the tank and normally you dont see him unless it's feeding time also my goby has a cut on side of head no fish has been missing although had several peppermint shrimp disappear in the pass just wondering what I should do seeing how I haven't seen anything and still have all my fish

I'm not saying you don't have a mantis, it's just one that clicks wouldn't make that wound. You could have one, but something else caused the wound.

Ok was not sure it is small and the goby and my tang tend to have some issues at times so it may be from the tang. Put a bottle trap in so I will see what I get.

If a smashing mantis lashed out at a fish enough to cause a wound, it would have stunned that fish and the mantis would have dragged it home.

That's what I thought heard, they were aggressive just wanted to double check. If it's a pistol shrimp should I be worried or let it be?

Looks like two scratches on my fire fish can anyone tell me what it is? Sorry about poor pic, second fish with similar wounds first was a goby

Hard to see from the pic, but maybe just got startled and hit the rock work? My fish seem to get some hurt themselves every now and then.

I have all kinds of clicks from pistol shrimp but they are harmless.

Difficult to tell from the Picture. No other large crabs etc, or a lot of hermits in the cuc?

I have a few blue leg hermits but are all small it is just strange because my goby had a pair vary similar to it a few weeks ago. The fish is doing well and eating well so I have not treated it for the cuts. Would rather not rip apart the rock work if I don't have to.

I did have the "rogue crab" once. I forget id it was red or blue. Targeted the dragonets as they are on the bottom a lot. The have been sid to prey on sleeping fish if they go rogue.
Also you may(cant tell frpm pics the wound type) been stung my majano or aiptasia if you have them.
I would look into a small trap regardless of the villain. If the crabs get caught and need to take a time out, its not a bad Idea.

I will try a trap I did the other day but had no luck. I have not seen any majano or aiptasia. I do have 3 rock flowers but I don't think they would do it.

Ugg, that's aggravating. Sorry.

If it makes you feel better, I finally found my gorilla crab again. Hes bigger now:eek:.
And ill have to pull his rock. And I do make sure hes well fed, to buy time.

The tank has been up for over a year and have not added anything but the rockflowers in the past half year so if it is a hitchhicker it has been in there a long time.

Weird. But they do live as plankton.
Im having some clicking as well. Thout it was a wonky diy(how rare at my house). I belive its a burrowing "gjost shrimp" finally saw tham next to the glass in what I had believed was worm burrows. fortunately, harmless. And 5mm
