Manually removing aptasia?

Perhaps the spores were already in the water column before using ApX?
I have never witnessed any such thing by employing it. If you stay on them you will keep them at bay..

It's a never ending battle with products like Aiptasia X. It'll work ok for the occasional one or two on a frag plug. But not an all out infestation like I've dealt with in the past. Need aggressive predation on top of products like this to really control an outbreak.

Lemon juice kills because it is acidic (PH shock). I just saturate it with salt by stirring it in so it also has the effect of hyper-salinity (osmotic shock). I use it in a syringe just like regular lemon juice.
I'm gonna try this

Honestly, it is a never ending battle once you get them in your system... No matter what, they will always return.. I usually know when it is time for more peppermints when aptasia pop up. The ApX works, I don't understand why some people have no luck with it...

When I ran a shop we sold it and from memory not many people had success with it. I really think it's down to the application and the fact it's hard to get the knack of how to do it properly.
We actually had the red sea rep do a demo on our open day where we set up a bare tank with a rock full of aiptasia we grew for our berghia. He zapped them all and I kept the tank setup out the back, let's just say he didn't have the knack either and a few aips turned into a forest in a couple of weeks when they came back.

I'm not saying the product doesn't work but like joes juice, kalk paste etc etc you have to know exactly what you are doing and it's why I would always remove the aiptasia on substrate from the system if possible to deal with it. Dealing with one aip, the wrong way, in your system can be the start of a plague.

+1 on Ap-X, a kid at the LFS told me to sneak upon the little bugger with the syringe tip and start feeding him slowly as you approach and the tentacles will close around the needle, then encase the entire face of the polyp and so far it has worked the a charm.

Aptaxia X works okay. I bought a laser to burn them in tank. Took like 15mins to burn 10 or so. I couldn't move rock and was in tight spot that my hand wouldn't fit, so i bought blue laser.

Do not pry or Scrape Aptasia off !!! They will release spore cells which are like eggs and will multiply like mice.
Syringe with Kalkwasser made thick or lemon juice injected into core of Anemone like cell will melt them and spores to nothing

All of the above remedies seem to have worked for different people. If possible, work on it outside of the tank as aiptasia will release spores if aggravated and then your problem will multiply. Although many people swear by Aiptasia X, I am not a fan. I used it as directed and a few weeks later I had aiptasia everywhere. Many people say peppermint shrimps but there are several kinds and all of them do not eat aiptasia. And if they get accustomed to being fed, forget it. And Berghia nudibranches are just too costly. What eliminated my infestation was a Matted File Fish. They were gone quickly and I haven't seen one since. Good luck whichever way you go.

Last week I seen someone posted not to use a laser....Just goes to show everyone will work to find a solution that works for them

New frag I just got has 2 head of aptasia. Is there anyway I can manually remove these before they start to spread? I’ve been trying to pick them off with tweezers but they close up so fast and they won’t come off. Any easy tricks? Home remedy’s I can stew up?

STOP!!!!!!!!!!! The more you attack them, the more prone they are to repopulate. When they are few and small aiptasia X is very effective, some do boiling water or lemon juice but that is a "be quick or be dead" method IMHO. One thing that is nice about aiptasia x is that the aiptasia recognizes it as food and won't retract and it is difficult for it to reproduce once it is hit. The question is whether or not it has already spread elsewhere and will pop up later. Only time will tell.

If you can remove the rock from the tank I have many times used two drops of bleach on to the pest and let it stand for approx, 5 seconds and then rinse under running fresh water. Has worked many times and they don't come back. Careful with the bleach run off.
