@Humblefish, do you think TTM would be feasible using large, brute trash cans? Would prevent ich from display, offer chance for fluke treatment and cross fingers velvet would show before going into the display? It would be a lot of water, but get around the "no more fish tanks allowed" possibly?

It's possible to do it this way, but your right.... it's a lot of water to use. Besides that little issue the only other thing I dont like about this idea is that it's very difficult to observe the fish while in a brute can. It would be pretty hard to see if velvet or any infections set it so you can change up treatment. Of course I've seen people do TTM with 5 gallon buckets so it's basically the same thing, just bigger.

^^ I agree with the lady. And with velvet so rampant right now, you want to observe the fish closely for symptoms. You could probably do TTM on 6 small tangs using a couple of 40 breeders (Petco is still running their $ per gallon sale). Or just one 40 breeder might do for observation or treatment, if you put a large HOB on it (I would use the Aquaclear 110). And seed the sponge with one of those bacteria in a bottle products.

But putting 6 un-quarantined tangs into a DT is "disease suicide" as far as I am concerned. Acanthurus have almost no protection against ich & velvet, and will provide a breeding ground to wipe out the entire tank if just one of the fish is sick.

Yes I agree I was just trying to come up with a solution for the OP that didn't involve fish straight into the DT.

Achiles and Powder Blue tangs are both acanthurus tangs (my spelling is probably way off here), but being they are both acanthurus the general rule is that they will fight. @4FordFamily will be able to provide better insight on tang aggression but adding them at the same time and providing plenty of hiding places and food should help some.
Yes this is correct. You'll want the Achilles larger than the PBT for best chances as PBT are typically nastier. Adding at the exact same time is your only chance and no guarantee. You're better off adding other tangs and fish together as well.

100% fact

thanks guys for all the info. so if I only put a PBT and Achilles instead of all 6, any better chance? since its a 210 they each have half the gallons

You'd have a better chance putting your other 4 tangs in, and then adding the PBT or Achilles. :D You might get away with adding both if you bought them at the same time, QT'd them together and it would also help if they were both on the small side (and the same size.) No guarantees though once they grow up.

lol humblefish, can i see ur tank - ur should do instruction video on all of the knowledge you got. really you are DR Fish...appreciate all ur help
