Marineland 75g can I drill it?

Just the bottom is tempured glass. The rest is good to drill. I have the same 75g tank from Marineland and drilled it. I have drilled several tanks. PM me if you have any questions.

I have a couple question, how did you get such clean holes lol. I have some rough edges on mine :(. Also wheres your water line in the tank? I am questioning if I should of went with the large overflow like you did now?

Size should be fine. I just drilled and installed an Eclipes M overflow from Eshops on a 120g tank and it handles the flow no problem with room to spare. Drilling is easy but also easy to mess up. Go slow and let the drill do the work, high speed but not full blast and just use the weight of the drill to do the cutting DONT press down. Use lots of water. I like to drill tanks outside and use the garden hose to provide a constant slow flow of water over the cutting area. Tape the baxk side of the cutting area helps with chipping and helps prevent the glass chunk from falling. Lay down some towels to cushion the fall if the chunk does fall inside the tank. Be sure to keep the drill straight and level or you will have a crooked hole. Again go slow take your time, keep drill speed quick and consistent, lots of water on cutting area.

It's pretty cold here in Michigan so taking it outside wasn't an option my outside water lines are shut down for the winter. so I just poured a jug of water on the bit every few seconds. its not bad but not as clean as yours lol. It should be OK though.

After using the same overflow on my 40g breeder I did notice I had to trim the plastic rim to make the box higher as the water level was below the plastic trim and I didnt like that. I actually bought another 40g tank to redo it.

Just a quick update. The sump and pvc showed up today so I can finally start plumbing this up!

I also installed the Eshopp overflow box eclipse - S on my 40g breeder but I drilled the tank from inside out so the template seats higher and the water level get right by the trim. If you drill using the template outside then you will have the water level under the trim. The trim is shorter on the inside.

Thanks! I wanted to use a union on the sump side but I only had a white one and didnt want to paint it. But really how often do you have to change out the sump anyway? looking at the picture I should of put the gate valve there :( oh well. I can still get to it no problem.

There 2 ways I thought of doing the return section. using a tee and capping the end would be the easiest. Any suggestions?

I just mocked something up with cheap white pvc before I cut the red stuff. I think this should work. Its pretty basic but I like simple lol.

I would have liked to put a union here but you cant get unions in different colors :( and my OCD would have gone nuts LOL!

I am a little concerned about a small gap in the stand from the wood not being completely straight. Maybe you guys have had this issue before? I was thinking can I add a shim just to fill in the gap so it wont twist?
