marineland heater recall please read!

I contacted DFS and was hoping they had my old invoice on file.. no luck. They'll take it back but all I get is store credit plus I have to pay shipping

Just take it to petco or anywhere else they sell Marineland heaters. They will exchange it or give you your money back. That is what the company rep told me....... No reciept needed

Anenomekeeper, I have read several posts where the haeter has done a lot of damage to thier tanks. Mine leaked 26 volts into my system. They have a problem with the stealths leaking and allowing water to get to the heating element. This can creat steam and cause it to build preasure and blow up in your tank. You may want to rethink the keeping part and either send it back to the company or find a differant FS that sell Marineland products.

The customer service person told me it was for all Stealth and stealth pro models. If you need the number PM me and I'll send it to you.

You are 100% correct. I even asked them about the leaky voltage I was getting from my MJ 1200s. They said there was not a recall but I should send them back to them and they would send me some new ones. I told them I could not send them all (4) at the same time because it would cause a major problem with my tank. They are sending me 4 new ones and I will send them the old ones. That is customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just spoke to rep this recall is for only the newer model stealth pro 100-300 watt and is only effecting heaters sent out after 2-11-11. A large batch of heaters did not go through quality control inspection. She said any heater purchased late Jan or early Feb is suspect to this particular issue.

I just called Fosters and Smith and they are exchanging
my 250 w heater that I purchased a couple of years ago.

They let me upgrade to a Jager but I had to pay the difference.

Unplugged mine this morning and took it to Petsmart with that email printed out. The manager just told me to go pick any other heater off the shelf that was the same wattage. No questions asked.

I would not touch anything from Marineland......to many horror stories

AFAIK these two lines of Stealth heaters are the only unfortunate problems like this. Their glass Visitherm heaters (lifetime warranty) are solid. I have four in service on my current system - of which two are around twenty years old. I've also had Penguin power heads and Magnum canisters for similar periods. FWIW.
