Im not usually the type of person to go get "common" fish (for the record, there is nothing wrong with common fish). I went to a local store I usually go to once or twice a week. Over priced, but high quality livestock for the most part. In one of their new displays, I saw the two most beautiful specimens. One was a supermale royal flasher wrasse which I bought and the other was a giant supermale McCoskers. He's easily as big as my palm or larger. They are holding him for me because he just came in. Whats biggest Mccoskers you've seen?

McCoskers is on my eventual fish list. I'd love to see a pic once you get it.

I have never seen one that size before. Most sources state 3" being maximum size and from what I've seen that seems to hold true. I may have seen a few slightly larger but not by much. Maybe you just have really small hands?

Here was my pair when I first got into the hobby a few years back with my FOWLR tank! I loved these fish. People say fairy wrasse but I really don't think they are. I've had some success, most recently with my Flame Wrasse pair, but for the most part I haven't had long term success yet, meaning 2 years or more. I bought this beautiful pair from Live Aquaria, not Diver's Den either, and they were healthy as can be. I've been thinking about getting another pair but I worry with my flame wrasse pair and so many anemones in my system.

Would love to see a pic when u get him

lol, they're not that small. Im 5'11.

Alright I got him yesterday and is in QT. He's VERY shy and will not come out. I did make a mistake, he's not a MCCoskers, it's a Carpenters.
Congrats! Mccoskers or carpenters both are great looking fish. Give him a day, mine came and was also very shy for a day. After some live brime and a day in qt he was good to go. He's in my dt now and is a show off always flashing never let's me take a picture of anything in the tank without him photo bombing it.

I still can't get him to swim openly. He is always hiding under a pvc pipe. It has me concerned.
How is his color? Breathing? They stress very easily, when stressed they will lose their color and breath very fast. When mine did this the first time I thought he was dying. Is it just him in the qt tank? Is there a light?

His colors are usually normal, until he comes out, then his stress colors are showing. There's a moorish idol and a baby regal in there with him. The only light is the ceiling lights I leave on.

Try a little more light, low light situations are dangerous times in the wild for fish that low on the food chain.

Hmm... maybe adding a light will help. My flasher likes light... as soon as lights dim he goes under his rock. Is the qt big enough for those fish? Maybe the moorish is scaring him.
