Me and My 4g Reef

Oh! It’s an AIO, I just use the back chambers and the return pump that came with it. Does that answer your question?
Yeah thats what I was looking for! Thanks! I was just 8 pages in and forgot what was the filter so i asked lol

Awesome tank! I’m interested in one of these as well. What are the filtration and display area dimensions?

I’m away for the week, but iirc the display is 12” across, 6” front to back, 8” deep, and the back chamber is 12” by 3” by 8”.

I haven’t, never really looked into it. Do you recommend it?
It works for me! I see a lot of posts about chemipure, but it seems to me that chemipure is the same as MatrixCarbon, which I was using in addition to Purigen before my LFS told me I didn’t need it because the Purigen was doing everything. I switched to just Matrix (biomedia) in addition to my MediaPure balls. Since my Kenya leather tree has become a Kenya leather forest, I added a small bag of carbon to the sump area as well just to be safe. Honestly I could probably be fine with just Purigen and biomedia, but it would really suck to find out I was wrong about that!

The tank was left unattended for six days over the holiday week, but everything seems to have done well! I topped off a bit extra before leaving, but I still had less evaporation than I expected (salinity tested at 1.025 yesterday, I had lowered it to 1.024 before leaving).
I did end up with some algae growth though:rolleyes: . I pulled some clumps out, but I might try a black out to kill it off.

The B-Ionic also arrived, so I’ll be able to start dosing this week!

Oh man! I haven’t left mine for that long yet, that must have been stressful! You could probably place a glass screen over the top to prevent evaporation, mine has a hood and I don’t get much at all unless I’m running the fan to keep it cool.

I’ve done several week trips without having any maintenance on tanks, but it was the first time for this one. It crossed my mind a few times, but it’s simple enough that not too much can go wrong (or so I tell myself...)

I do have a plastic sheet I recently fixed as a lid, it does pretty good to help evaporation. I have a glass sheet but I haven’t gotten it cut yet.

Do you have an auto feeder? I know fish can go a while without food, but mine are used to getting fed twice a day and I always feel terrible if I leave for a few days.

I don’t, I just make sure they’re fed right before I leave, and while I’m gone they have the pod life to feed on. I’ve always just had gobies/Blennies/wrasses that tend to be a bit more self sufficient, though.

Came home to this. It’s just the pompom crabs molt

Ca, KH, and Mg are continuing to decline, testing tonight at:

Ca - 360ppm
KH - 6.5 dKH
Mg - 1020ppm

I’m discussing it further in this thread. Hopefully I’ll be set to dose by tomorrow.

Oh man! I remember the first time I saw cleaner shrimp molt I freaked out, but that crab is WILD!

good luck with your params, have you tested your wc water?
