Hi All,

I got melanarus wrasses that been in QT probably a good month. First couple weeks just observed and he was fine. Did one round of prazipro. And last two week started on copper power at 2.0 ppm. Today I found him in Conner trying to stay up. I think I over fed him yesterday so I’m not sure if it’s ammonia spike but I did 50% water change today. He seemed to get little better and was swimming but than went back to his Conner.
any advice on how to safe him?

Have you been using a bottled bacteria like biospira and an ammonia alert badge?

I have the badge and I didn’t add liquid bacteria

The was cycled before I started QT

I did it over 2-3 days and he’s been almost two weeks in copper

Wrasses can be sensitive to copper but I did just read back over your original post and noticed that you only did one round of prazi. Did you happen to give him a freshwater dip to see if he had flukes before the treatment?

No I started copper and I didn’t want to do both

By one round of prazi, you mean two doses 5-7 days apart? Just clarifying one round doesn’t mean only one dose.

Is there a container of sand in there for him? Some PVC elbows? He looks more stressed than anything, a couple more hiding places might help.

Have you noticed any poop on the bottom of the tank? Could be constipated, or many sand-dwelling wrasses come in with internal parasites. If he is still eating, I’d add General cure + focus to his frozen foods for at least 10 days.

Fish looks very thin and may have internal parasites. is its poop white or stringy and Is it eating?? If eating, what are you feeding it?

For some reason I don’t know why I only dosed on prazipro and when I realized that I had doser copper so I didn’t want to have two meds at same time. I feed frenzy food and some time reef nutrition pellets. He does have pvc In tank but no sand. One thing I did notice yesterday is that my refractometer was not calibrated and my salinity was 1.030 and I normally keep it at 1.025. I did another water change and he was swimming little more. I feed him everyday does he look thin? It’s my first melanarus wrasse so I’m not sure how much they eat. He did poop brown yesterday

One time dose prazipro

High salinity would definitely irritate fish

Today he was on his side I turned on the light threw some food and he went after it and swims around. Is it normal for wrasse to just lay on its side?

They can. One major issue wrasse may be having is that they burrow and desire sand on bottom. Likely making it very Unhappy

I just saw 3 white dots on my wrasse for first time after two weeks in copper solution. I thought that ich would be killed off by now. I had him over a month and this the first time I seen white spots on him

White spots don't always mean ich, can you get a pic of them?

Its on nose and it looks like it’s sticking out. I tried to research white spots and it seems ich the only thing that popped up. Fins all clear
