Merediths 75g upgrade

Ask to see the worst of the scratches, ask how deep they are and go from there. Buffing acrylic isn't hard if you know what your doing.
Wet sand, and you will have to go at it in stages (sandpaper) and finally 3000 grit will clear it up to where you can make it shiny again after buffing. I would start sanding with 600 grit due to the fact that it's acrylic.........you can always call "tanked" and ask them what they use[emoji12] I'm sure Brett or Wade could help you out.
Who was the tank made by?

Im not sure. Im going out there on Saturday to see it before i haul it home. Thanks for the tips! You think its worth saving the 350 over getting a brand new tank, even if its an aqueon? Lets assume it needs lots of sanding, buffing and polishing to be usable. Still think it's worth it?

Quick update. Just did a water change and stupid me wasnt paying attentiom and i nearly sucked the polyp right off of my hammer coral! You can see the one that i damaged.

Well, depending on if you get water in it, most of them "should" be less visible. It really all depends on how bad they are and how many. Sanding and polishing will take hours and alot of clean up afterwards to ensure you got the chemicals out.....because I can guarantee you that they are not reef safe lol. Do you have any photos? Would like to see them

yes he does indeed! I'm really hoping I didn't kill that head, much less the rest of it. It's bad timing too cause @Diesel is coming to see the tank today! gah... such pressure!

It's lying on it's back in the pictures. He assured me it had only been that way for a few hours and he would turn it right side up again. I dont know why people do that. It's bad for the tank.

Those are great pictures! Lol. You can really see what's going on haha. I definitely can't see anything worth noticing from those. it may not be that bad.
But hey, it's only 150! As long as there's not an abundance of scratches and it does leak......i would buy it. Really saves you on your budget.

Haha! Awesome. Wish there were some squad members near me.
@redfishbluefish, was real close......but didn't come out[emoji35] [emoji12]

Well, I guess 5 hours is pretty close compared to most of the squad. It is nice to get to meet up and get to know each other. I know @d2mini is over there around Diesil too and I've met him as well. They are both really nice, cool people! Maybe circumstances will allow for more of us to meet up. That would be fun!

I'm wondering if that really thick center brace is going to give me problems with lighting. I bought a third Onyx for the new tank, but I'm pretty sure it would hang right above that center brace.
I'll look it over when I go over there and take more pictures. I'm only going to buy it if I think it looks ok. I dont want to spend days fixing it up just to be disappointed in the result. This is the kind of project that has to last a while. ( I totally said the same thing about my 75 thinking it would be around for years!)

OK. So here are some terrible pictures of my fishies and a few corals that arn't doing too hot.

Hammer that I almost sucked the polyp off of today.

Hey Girl, still working as we had the wrong material delivered.
Not sure if I can get away as we need to finish this tomorrow by noon.
Will let you know but I already missed my lunch time and don't want to miss dinner.
Being your own boss sucks sometimes lol.

It's ok if you have to miss. If it helps I'm making turkey meatloaf tonight for dinner! I can feed ya :) But it's a long drive down to my house from there, so dont feel obligated at all!

Kool.. pics.. tangs and clowns are my fav fishes.. [emoji4]

I love mine as well. I plan on getting a couple more tangs when I upgrade. maybe a group of anthias too. Who knows! That's the best part of upgrading to a large tank like this. :D

If space permits, id keep every single species of tangs and clowns..[emoji12]

Did a water change today on both tanks. I even plugged in my ph probe and tried calibrating it. I checked it against a ph test kit. The apex reads 7.12 and my test kit says 8.2 as usual. I guess I need to break down and buy a new one.

Oh and the hammer coral survived and is doing well. It's a little retracted in the picture because I was messing with it some to get it secure in the rock, but it suffered no lasting damage from my accident last week. :D

My coral QT is simply a 20 gallon JBJ frag tank. It's an all in one (AIO) system that I added an AI Prime and an ATO to. I simply put any snails, crabs, and corals in there for 76 days before adding them to the display. No fish stay in this tank. I feed the corals in this tank more often that in the display to make up for there not being any fish and every so often I tie some nori to a frag tile for the hermit crabs.
