Well that's good that he is doing better. It's funny you named him that. How's he doing tonight?

He's active but showing signs of ich. I wish he was my own fish so I could do as I wish with him. I have strict orders... any fish in that tank stays in the tank. Dumb i know, but I'm doing what I can for him without taking him out. At least if it IS just ich, I have a chance of getting him to a point where he can live with it. I hate having my hands tied like that though. He's still fat and active though.... looking as cute as ever!

That's pretty crummy they won't let you treat him.. You would think they would want the display tank to show the best it possibly can. I hope he can fight it off. Good luck!

He's not really in a display tank. I didn't want to put him in there because I didn't think he could compete for food with those fish. This one tank has a few corals in it for sale and one other fish (black cap basslet) and lots and lots of rock. To get him out I would have to tear apart the tank and that's what they dont want. It does suck though... I'll just have to practice "ich management" with him and hope he can just live with it. *crosses fingers*

An update for my personal tank:

There is a plan in place to upgrade some of my equipment. It will take a while to do since I have to "pay it off" over 9 more weeks. Considering what I'm getting, it's well worth it. I'll be replacing my t5's with two Rapid LED Onyx dimmable fixtures (brand new). I already have one still in the box.

Then I'll be getting an MP40QD. This is also brand new and has all the upgrades and special whatevers they can come with. I figured if I was going to get one, I might as well get the best they offer so I dont want to upgrade again in a month or two.

Last but not at all least is an Apex! My first ever controller!! It's used, but well stored and works well. I'll have to get a new PH probe for it, but that's it and considering I'm only taking 4 weeks out of the total 11 weeks to pay for it, I think it's a steal of a deal! Woot!

Thanks! Im excited about it. My dad is ready to geek out over the programing part..... its what he does for a living, writing programs. Im pitching to him to create his own controller cause he could.

On a much more irritating note, my purple tang is showing signs of ick!!!!! (Insert lots of bad words here) i have two crappy pictures of him. Im in the denile stage, hoping it goes away so i can pretend i didnt see it, while fully realizing what i need to do to fix it.

It's ok. I'm really dreading taking all the fish out again. Just when I got all my corals growing well again and looking good. At least I still hate the right side of my aqua scape so this will give me the chance to redo it. ugh. Now, when do I have time to do that? I'm off to gymnastics with the kiddo!

I am glad you had a good time in Manhattan. You were right near my Daughter's house in the West Village and my parents were born right off Canal Street. It is a real dump now as you probably realized.
I was also born in Brooklyn and my grandparents came through Ellis Island as many New Yorkers did.

Nice build Meredith, was fun to read through! I lol'd a few times Especially the Dallas Cowboys cup causing stress and ich, hahahah!! How is Nemo the "tang" doing? Did you get your new equipment up and running? Did you fight the good fight with the purple tang ich? People want answers!!

Hey guys! Well, the Nemo tang is doing very well. I might put a clown in that tank and name it dory lol. Just to mess with people. My tang is looking the picture of health, so - for now- I'm going to pretend I saw nothing wrong with him in the first place. I haven't gotten my new equipment yet. I'm waiting on my friend to deliver them and he's waiting on his tax refund to come in.

In the mean time, today I did a water change and some adjustments to the right hand side of the rock work. I'm happier with it and I think my PT is enjoying the extra swimming space.

If you'll notice, both of the elegance corals are still looking terrible. They arn't quite dead yet, but looking bad. I hope that they will make a slow recovery, but it's doubtful.

I ran across an article about this particular thing. They called it Elegance coral disease. Not very creative but it turns out this disease is contagious. So if you have one in your tank with it and you put a new, healthy one in the tank with it, it's very likely you'll lose both. So when your out shopping for corals and see a few elegance corals in the same tank as one that looks like these, dont buy any of them. Not sure what I did with the link to the study they did on it.
