Microbacter 7

It seems to be helping. I am also doing a lot of other things so I don’t want to falsify that MB7 has been the turning point. But I think it’s been a factor absolutely.

Thx. :)

I followed sunnyx is thread on cyano

Sure, that's a fine plan. It just makes it not possible to know if the MB7 is useful or not based on an effect when also adding the calcium carbonate. :)

It is really hard to quantify the usefulness of Microbacter 7. I know there is a thread going on now about how we too often rely on anecdotes to come to conclusions in reefing and I would agree but they are not completely worthless.

I mainly use microbacter 7 to deal with cyano. After keeping tanks at home and the LFS for many years I would often use Chemiclean to treat cyano. It eliminates the cyano 95% of the time but sometimes I would treat and then the cyano would be back within a month. I do have a degree in ecology and my theory is that when the cyano is removed there is still an open niche in the ecosystem for a cyano like organism that scavenges dissolved nutrients from the water. If even the slightest amount of cyano survives it can grow back to fill this niche. I have started adding microbacter 7 after treating with Chemi Clean in an effort to replace the cyano with more desirable bacteria strains that aren't unsightly. It seems to work. I have not had cyano bounce back after doing this, though I have only tried this about 3 times.

Has anyone had a bad experience with this product? I have been doing some research and found some people are saying it killed thier fish.
If you follow the instructions and don’t overdose because of your impatience then there will be no problem. If you’re worried I’d do a half dose every other week

I still dose about 3 to 4 ml a week in my tank . I also use sunnyx is method with calcium carbonate once a week and my water is crystal clear and no cyano has come back .

When following sunnyx method what calcium carbonate do you use? I know that the one he has in his post is no longer available. Does it matter which you use?

I am betting that whoever is saying that is using the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy. I'm 99% confident in that

I used Micro 7 in my tank start up with their Ammonia. Worked like a charm. Didn’t have hardly any ugliness with algae. I dose some if I feel the tank needs it. I really like it.
