I just dose my tank last night and I must say that my sps love this stuff all my sps had the longest polyp extension I have ever seen. So I think I'm gonna continue the regular Maint schedule with it.

I haven't heard about this stuff, but checked out their website. Among other things, they say this about Special Blend: "*Saltwater environments - the bacteria in this product will remain effective when used in marine environments with a specific gravity of 1.017 to 1.025. " I run my salinity a bit higher; I wonder what that does to it.

I would assume if you run your tank at 1.026, which I dont think it should be any higher than that, that some of the bacteria would not be able to live because of the depleted oxygen levels. But this stuff has a lot of strains of bacteria and I'm sure they will still be effective.

I run my tank 1.025, and have used this any time I have any cyano or slime type algaes and works great at out competing them.

Fair warning: This stuff stinks!

I use it regularly and it has made a world of difference. I only clean my glass once a week.

I been using this stuff for about 3 months now and it says to use it every two weeks as maintenance, and I find myself biting at the bit to add it in, the two weeks just doesn't come fast enough, plus i love taking the blame for the smell, really gives me some alone time with the tank. also the stuff says to add 25% to 50% more for salt water.

Wouldn't you hate to have the job of bottling this stuff?????

It works well on cyano? Where is this available? Locally or online only?

When dosing does it make your skimmer go crazy? I might have to start thinking of adding some of this at WC time now as well.

+1 on Petco is where you can find it.

Bknapp, I cant believe youve never read the ecobak thread! I know it is mentioned in there about using MB7 or Special Blend at least a few times in order to out compete bad bacteria(cyano) with good bacteria.

I have also used this to combat Cyano and it works wonders, there is a thread somewhere here explaining the dosing schedule.

also, what others have said, this stuff reeks and I also love to hear the old lady complaining upstairs when the smell makes it up there!!!
