This happens all the time. You just have to be aware that sand will only be present for a short time while ick and velvet will stay there longer. Knowing the life cycle of ich will help with that.

This happens all the time. You just have to be aware that sand will only be present for a short time while ick and velvet will stay there longer. Knowing the life cycle of ich will help with that.
So I just came home to the exact same thing. Although my spots don't look white they actually look like yellow freckles one the purple coloring of his face. I feed with garlic /nothing new for 30+days /last thing new was Coral that was dipped. And that was MAYBE two months ago... So I will watch for now then try a freshwater dip (how long?/how would I get confirmation that it's flukes? ) After that should I go to prazopoa?
So I just came home to this same concern... Although after staring an offensively long time I'm pretty sure his spots aren't white but actually yellow spots coming through his purple coloring around the face... I feed garlic everyday... Nothing new in tank 30+ days..MAYBE 2 months ago new Coral that was dipped. I will wait 24 hours to watch for change I suppose it always could be just sand but if not I will do a freshwater dip..(how long? And what am I looking for that would confirm if it is flukes?)

Hey just curious for anyone still active on this thread if their Midas blennys ended up being okay? (No other symptoms no other fish becoming sick?) or did it turn out to be an illness?
I’ve been having the same problem with my new Midas blenny for over a month now; but there’s no other symptoms no other fish becoming sick. I fully QT’d him before adding to the DT. It’s been driving me crazy but through researching online and older threads it seems maybe Midas blennys specifically are prone to sand or dust sticking to their slime coats?
