Loctite Quick Set Epoxy
Sets in 5 Minutes

Hi everyone...

Just wondering if this is reef safe? I was told it was, but I put it in my tank and a minute after I did, the skimmer went nuts.

It was a reasonably small amount of the stuff... enough to cover a 1/2" frag plug.

All corals have their polyps out as normal, except there are bubbles everywhere from the skimmer.

Should I be worried about things starting to die?

Here is a picture:

It's not reef safe. I also got this one time, If you only used a little you should be ok.

*Sigh*

I need to do more research rather than relying on 1 person's opinions.

Thank you for the information.

Luckily it was only a little bit... enough to cover a 1/2" frag plug with a thin layer.

LABEL: Weld agent contains epoxy resin. Hardener contains polymercaptan amine and nonylphenol

I would worry.

Worst case run some carbon and do a water change.. The skimmer will calm down in a little bit..

Already have some carbon in the return area in the back of the tank. I'll do a water change now.

It wasn't a lot on there, but since it is only a 34g, will it be alright?

Thanks so much for the information!

I would worry.

No need to worry, we used some of this on a few plugs in our 72g. I did not run carbon or anything except skimmer. There were no ill effects and no corals died. Nothing never happened. That was 2 years ago....

But don't use anymore!!!

Alright. Thank you again for the information... and relief.

Just threw the entire thing away.

I did a water change, and I've emptied the skimmer's cup 3 times now in the past 30 minutes.

It would not hurt to run Carbon also

You'll be just fine. Expect the skimmer to be a cannon for a few days though. Run carbon.

ditto on the above. no worries. it may make the skimmer go nuts but unless you dumped a vat of this stuff in your reef you should not have any problem. i have also used it a few times in a pinch and never saw any ill effect

Thanks everyone!

I'm running carbon in the tank as well.

A 16 year old with anxiety is never a good thing, so thank y'all for the advice. Definitely calmed me down.

I'll let yall know how everything turns out

I've used AquaMend a lot. Is that not safe?

Also, Kraylen, your chalice fragging video is awesome. Came in handy yesterday. :)

Im confused, Aquamend is by far the best reef welder.

I only use super glue myself. Its safe but man it'll light your skimmer up forever! I used alot of it once and my skimmer was worthless for two weeks. Its just to much of a headache for me. Its not going to kill anything though.
