Not pictured (he was hiding in the pvc pipe behind the Pintail) was our P. attenuatus.

How long do you QT and what do you look for?

Thank you, Rev. We generally QT fish anywhere from 3 to 9 weeks (sometimes longer). It really depends on where we acquire the fish, their general health on arrival, whether they have any infections (parasitic or otherwise, as well as their fat stores/size.

All of our fish are treated with Prazipro as a preventative. Otherwise, we observe and feed. If a parasitic infectin (flukes/ich/brook/amyloodinium) is present, these fish are treated and remain in QT for at least 9 weeks. For ich, we usually use the hypo salinity method. For flukes. Prazipro. For brook, amyloodinium and resistant ich, we treat with quinine.

Thanks so much, Brett! We have wanted a Tinker's for a while and when this little one came up, we couldn't resist. He is only 2 and 3/8", but what he lacks in size, he definitely makes up for in personality - Big fish in little body, LOL!

I don't usually post my bad shots, but have to share this one as it was the first sighting I've had of the Attenuatus since he was released from the acclimation box. of course, it had to be a butt shot - he was just too fast, LOL!
