Aquarium Shop said this coral is stressed. But I bought it either way.

Does my red milepora get its color back ? Or dying ? It's polyps are shaking with the vortech MP60.

It appears to be alive to me, the color will come back in time, although it can take awhile depending on the acro. I like taking a gamble on stressed acros, you never know what you will end up with. Sometimes you get a real gem.

It was incredibly White. Now it's color is changing. Is it good or bad ?

I have had a couple shipped to me that were pale white, the trick is identifying if the acro has lost its tissue or not. Usually this becomes apparent quite fast, because algae will form on the skeleton. If it is darkening in color, as its tissue, this is a very good thing, it usually goes white, brown, green, and finally will show its true colors. This can take up to a year sometimes in difficult acros. So be patient. Once it has polyp extension, and is starting to show hints of its true coloration, might be several months for this...you can sometimes break off a branch and get them jump started for new pretty growth. But wait to do this until you notice good base growth, and overall healthy appearance. My favorite acro I have came from a browned out throw away!

It's tentacules (polyps) are always waving.
Sorry, I had to edit the top post, accidentally sent send before finishing. If you have poylp extension, you are on easy street, it should color up faster than receiving one with no poylp extension.

it has polyp extension from every area. Did it like the wave or shall I decrease it?

Acros love, love, love flow. Check your alk mag and cal at least weekly. especially when things get happy and start growing. Keep up with water changes, and you can grow any acro out there. The two times I had a major losses was from being lazy and not watching my alk. you are already doing well, keep us updated on the progress!

It looks just fine to me, I would not worry. Even looks to be getting its color back. The thing that screwed me up the most with the acro saga when I was beginning, is I would worry too much I was not doing things right because someone did this, or someone added that. There is so much information out there, it is allot to digest. There are still guys on here that make me feel like I know nothing, because they are that advanced. always keep alk up, usually I like to keep mine at 9. Alk drops were my #1 killer. Watch mag, and cal. Flow. Keep fish fat and change your water. You will never have problems for the most part

Yeah, I would not worry. Acros take a while to get happy and look like the pictures. But yours does seem to be getting more happy each passing day. And even if for some reason you lose it, do not get discouraged. I can not even tell you how many I lost in the beginning. I now have over 70....kind of addictive...haha. Also, FYI. Acro frags are easier than entire colonies like you purchased. There is nothing wrong with colony acros, they just sometimes take a bit to adjust to captive life.

I love nps,sps and soft mixed tank. I have 5 XL leathers. I'm running carbon for the chemical warfare. 10x sps and one of them are unhappy others happy.
And I bought a problematic sun coral dealing with. His owner never fed it for 8 months. And gave it to me for free. Trying to let it live.

I hope this tank gets better.

Very nice tank! You are at the best part, adding!! I so badly want to redo my tank and upgrade a tad bit larger. Mixed tanks are pretty awesome. I run allot of carbon as well for coral war. I have read sps fighting is not too bad, however, i want to be on the safe side. Have you seen the neon green Japanese soft corals? I'm not sure if they are considered leather corals or not, but you should get one. They are awesome looking.

Why some people do not suggest alk higher than 8 ppm on sps tank?

There is nothing wrong with keeping alk at 8-8.5. The reason I do not, is when you start to have allot of growth in a fully stocked tank, which you eventually will have. It is so easy for alk to drop from consumption when things get really happy and start growing. My acros will grow a little bit at all times, however, when things become perfect, and you hit the sweet spot, you will be amazed at the jump in alk, cal, and mag consumption. It is easy to be caught off guard, so I personally like to keep alk on the high side just to be on the safe side. I have had to add over 15 ml. More of alk and cal in a matter of a couple weeks just from the sps becoming happy.

I add 4ml of alk every 4 hours. Which parameter would you recommend me?
