Hello was looking at a product called miracle mudd anyone have any experience with it if so can you give me an idea what i should expect from this product and possibly a brief statement from your experience ?

Thank you i guess it make your tank abke to run with know skimmer and gives you better results have you tried this product before ?

miracle mud is used as a refugium substrate and is supposed to replenish trace elements and control nitrates. i’ve never messed with it myself so i don’t if its claims are believable. and yes, supposedly you don’t need to run a skimmer.

I've used it for 2 years more/less as an experiment and I have not noticed any real benefits from it. I think my mangroves do well with the roots in it but that's about all I noticed.

I don't think I'll buy in the future.

I got sucked into the marketing of miracle mud several years ago. What should you expect from this product? A mess when you clean it out of your refugium.

If your trying to run a skimmerless tank you may want to consider posing ‘that’ question to the forum as there are several members doing so with amazing tanks. However, if your even a little green in this hobby I would not recommend going skimmerless.

I m making a custom tray to put in my sump that will hold the product. how was your results when using the product other than a messy process i hear its great for fish and corals and you only need to change out once every 6 months and half side at a time i will use a skimmer at 3 days off 4 days on with this product and do daily water lvl checks i will be also doing a video of a before and after in week intervals and monthly coral growth i just thought with all the reviews more reefer would be using such a product i stumbled upon this product from another reefer i met at an lfs i was actually looking for some cheato and the lfs had none he heard me asking about it and said he had some for free and that i may have some when i asked what he was using for sump filtration he said he was using miracle mudd and had been for about 2 years with know water changes at all but was running a skimmer 24/7 all his corals look awesome and very vibrant fish were super bright we did nt exchange numbers and the lfs is 60 miles away from my location so here i am more interested in this product i have 10lbs coming i got for super deal so we will see let know what you think that may improve my ideas with this product thx and happy reefing

That is a beautiful Nem ! I don't have any experience with Miracle Mud but I have added mud from local waters near my home. Never saw any difference & it does make a mess your tray idea is a good one.
Also Welcome to R2R Great place to research just like your question !

Welcome, and a heck of a user name ;) If you haven't already do some wider searchers here on this forum and also the search engine of your choice. I think you will get various results and opinions on it but while I personally haven't used it over the years I've heard more positive than negative on the product has a whole. I mean if we are all honest here there are a lot of products on the market for our hobby. A lot.

My personal opinion is that if you do enough research on the product and use it has intended then more often than not it will work. There are a couple other products similar that I've also read about that work well. Again - use has intended, build your system with it in scope, you should be fine.

IME and use for 2 years I've not noticed any drastic difference and as directed I have replenished as suggested and though it has certainly not had any ill effects, it has not greatly improved conditions as the product description claims.

Research is part of my elected field with a steadfast conclusion that the only true benefit I've noticed is good growth on my red mangroves.

I try to stay on top of parameters accordingly so perhaps I'm not a good one to ask about the pros from MM but then again I don't have any fishes with ill health such as head and lateral line erosion which is MM claims to reverse. As well as a few other benefits described.

By all means, I welcome any input others may share on MM and hope you post about your findings. :)

Not saying there is no benefit, just my observations and only my

BTW Theresa Loveless that is one beautiful anemone.

I have used both Mineral Mud and Miracle Mud on reef tanks in the past. I never saw any benifit to using it and use it did not justifying the added expense of it. Imo is only good for a large shallow mangrove fuge type setup or if you want to keep seagrass.

I use it in my skimz sump and chaeto and mangroves have taken off. Bought two bottles and only needed one, in fact I should sell the other

Yeah, it's been around for a long time. I tried it probably 20 years ago and concluded the claims were nonsense. Entirely unclear how it obviates the need for a skimmer. I agree, about the only place I would use it would be for a lagoon system with mangroves or sea grass.

Here is a picture its pretty spendy but i found it for a little cheaper im excited im hear alot of good about this stuff. Im going to stock up on it at this price. If anyone wants to try it im posting a picture from e bay where they sell it for $56 and some change Most I found it for was a hundred it averages around 70 to 80 but from what im seeing its well worth it please let me know how it turns out for you anyone who trys it out my tank is 150 gallons im thinking this will be enough? I guess you want about 2 or 3 inches in sump
