Miracles and Synergy Reef 125G build

Yup! How do you like those lights? I'm planning on getting 2 for an 80gal mixed/SPS dominant I'm planning. Did you get their controller or are you using apex or something?

I'm using the apex to control the lights. The lighting schedule was a screen shot right from the fusion wizard display. They work great and color and shimmer are amazing. My tank is 5' across and I have the 3 Kessil 360's which seem perfect. There are no dark spots and overall its very even.

I added some coral, an anemone, and a clean up crew over the last couple days. I hope the clean up crew are able to take care of the diatom bloom. Things seem to be working well other than some issues I've had with my Apex. I had to send the display in for service, out of the blue, half of the screen stopped working and Neptune couldn't fix it over the phone. I have also had an ongoing issue with the salinity probe. I have been able to narrow the problem down to electrical interference from the Vectra pump but there has been nothing that seems to fix it. I have re-routed the cables, I have tried ferrite clamps and the values are still all over the place. I may just have to ditch the salinity probe all together but I would like to be able to use it since I paid for it. If anyone has had this problem and been able to fix it feel free to chime in. Since this is my first tank, how long does the diatom bloom last? Water perimeters are PO4 = 0.00, Nitrates = 5-6, Alk = 8.5, Cal = 430, and Mg = 1500 the last time I checked.

I have noticed over the last couple days that the water is a bit cloudy. Everything I've read says its probably a bacteria bloom. I test the water this morning and KH = 8.01, PO4 = 0.00, NO3 = 2, Ca = 420, and Mg = 1400. If it is bacteria, what is the best way to rid the tank of cloudy water? Is it just at part of having a new tank? Loving the hobby and can't wait to buy some more fish and coral.

Its been awhile since the last update....

I had the skin for the stand built, I wanted the skin to be easily removed so the cabinet builder built the frame so that the entire thing could be removed from the stand. The frame attaches to the stand with magnets and the doors aren't on hinges, they are aligned with brackets and held to the wood frame with magnets. I really like how the skin turned out and my wife is much happier not having to look at all the industrial components in the sump.

I have added some more coral, mostly zoas but two pieces of SPS as well and they all seem to be doing great. I have four fish being delivered tomorrow and plan on doing the TTM method for quarantining. I ordered from vivid aquarium a lawn mower blenny, tricolor fairy wrasse, red lined wrasse, and a male carpenter flasher wrasse. I also have in the same order some more zoas to fill in a zoo garden some more.

The bacteria bloom that I was having trouble with is now gone and the tank has been pretty stable. I have been trying to get the daily dosing adjusted for Alk, I have increased the dose 4 times now but I'm getting closer. Im currently dosing 90ml of soda ash and 77ml of calcium. I switched the soda ash to 24hrs/7 days to keep the tank from going through swings in Alk during the day, I was initially dosing Alk at night and calcium during the day.

So far so good and I'm really enjoying the hobby but I have to continue to tell my self to take it slow. I want the tank to look like the established tanks that I keep seeing on R2R.

I'm relatively new to this also. First tank. Almost 2yrs old. That's seems a lot to be dosing daily. My tank is packed with corals and I don't dose that much. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I have heard that coraline uses a lot but I only have a few patches right now. I initially determined the amount by manually dosing the tank to Alk 8.5, Cal 440, and Mg 1400. I then let the tank go 24hrs without dosing and then calculated the daily dose from the drop. I Set the daily dose and then tested every 24hrs but after the initial figure of 60ml of both I had to increase to where it is now. I increased the Alk yesterday to what it is now, the calcium has been sitting level @440 for the last couple checks. I hope I'm doing that correctly.

Usually you would test and then wait for 4 or 5 days. Then test again. See how much it dropped. Then divide by the number of days you waited. That's your daily dose. But from the pictures your tank look rather empty. You shouldn't really have to dose yet. Waterchanges will usually suffice. I think I'm doing like 40 ml a day. I would say I have around 15-20 sps. Including a monti that's 12in across. The rest LPS. But check with someone else first. The tank looks great though.
