WEll, mainly because its sitting in my house right now. lol I may still do that. I am making the trip to lowes to look here in about 15 minutes. So we will see.

sweet stand and tank dimensions...exactly the same tank I will have built as soon as I get moved to FL...I will be watching this for sure to see how it comes together.

looks like it is gonna be a killer build mojo.... you can always line the inside with white polycarbonate aka. lexan.... you need any help just hit me up!!!! i love doing this stuff...:)

Congrats on the baby!

How are you mounting your doors? Are they going to sit flush with the front of the stand or do they sit on top and over lap the door opening like a standard cabinet door? I'm just finishing up my own stand and just wondering about the hinges you used. Great looking stand!

I am thinking of just painting the inside with epoxy appliance paint. I have used this on the inside of canopies and it works really well.

if you decide to just paint it epoxy is the way to go for sure...;) sweet water is nice but dark.. i have unlimited acrylic and lexan so you know my choice lol...well unlimited to a extent..:(

I did decide to just build my sump so no 40 breeder I was thinking about. My sump will be 20x 28 and be just a basic sump. 7 in filter sock with skimmer section 3 baffles and a return section. Should have tones of room.

Today I was able to paint the inside of the stand with Epoxy appliance paint. I have used this before and hope it turns out well.
I am alos getting my sump together tonight as well. Pics tomorrow.

Sump is built ! now I ll let it sit overnight and put some water in it tomorrow.

Looking good... What size is the sump?? Looks like 1/4" material if so you might want to put a euro in it for a saftey factory... Without one your gonna have some deflection...

I will be adding a 1 inch brace. I have to cut it yet. but thanks sump is 20 by 28 x 15

what kind of flow are you gonna be running threw the sump?? i have built hundreds of sumps like that even all the ones for myself... but my current one i went with big flow in a similiar size sump and i couldnt get rid of the micro bubbles for nothing, so i made a new one and made the baffles under over under and it cured the problem...im running a airstar 3200 return pump so it looked like a white rapids threw that puppy lol.... something to keep in mind down the road if you ever a make a new one it's obvious that its not the last one you will build.....great job on it btw. it looks nice and clean...:)

Looks great so far Mojo... :)

question though...
with what appears to be a 7-8" high set of baffles, why would you be at all concerned about deflection and euro bracing?...
There will only be 7-8" of water...so it seems unnecessary to me, especially with the front to back support you have with the three installed baffles...

just curious... :)

I am only using a ehiem 1260. So pretty low flow for this wide sump.

As far as bracing, I will do something with it. As it is 1/4 in acrylic. Over time it will start to bow without any addition bracing. Not enough for worry really but Would rather just not take the chance and just do right the first time.

Ill be drilling some holes this weekend after I help my daughter with her mid evil castle project :)

Acrylic absorbs water over time and will deflect with it's current setup running at 8" now if your power fails and the sump fills 13" or so without a brace the sump will fail also... A brace could have been avoided by using 1/2" thick material but it gets real pricey real quick... I have almost 20yrs of acrylic fabrication under my belt so trust me when I say it will bow.. 1/2" would bow also but a minute amount is aceptable for a sump but not displays IMO. when you get up 1/4" deflection you start stressing the seams and crazing occurs then one day pop!!!! You got a flood....;)
