My vote is chalice. Getting too much flow and light. Not to mention your tank is still very immature and there are biological processes that cannot be tested. Once again, time for a new LFS!

I'd put it in a place with less light and less flow .. where the skeleton is showing will grow back again ..its probably stn or rtn

Oops, didn't mean to repeat what has already been recommended. I second that motion. I concur :D

Guys all of ur responses helped me a lot i moved the coral down to the bottom low flow lower light well see if anything changes and i could see any tentacles yet after the lights has been off for a couple of hours .. although i found out 2 small sand colored crabs coming out of the rock next to it which got me worried abit now ... i will do what u told me about the blind dosing and stop it until i check and test them .. thanks guys [emoji173][emoji173]

What strikes me here is that you've got a LFS who's advising you to put stony corals in a relatively young tank, and telling you to dose calcium and ALK into that tank with low coral load and no testing.

You're running into troubles with the coral ... but the LFS made a couple of sales. Proceed with caution with that fellow - advice from someone who's got something to sell you should often be taken with a grain of Reef Crystals . . .

@Maritimer "a grain of Reef Crystals" I like what you did there!

But as to the OP......you have what's known as A SALES MAN not a LFS.
Sounds like the type of shop that runs copper mesh above the ceiling to keep people from checking info/prices and hopes or an impulse buy.
Hopefully you live reasonably close to a more user friendly LFS, at least until you have a bit more experience in the hobby.
I still hold my phone in my hand the whole time I'm at a new LFS I'm visiting to check things I'm not sure of.

I had purchased 2 monti frags and placed them upon same levels in the tank. The Jedi Mind Trick did great but the Seasons Greeting began to lose color. I lowered it near the bottom & it came back beautifully. Light can make a big difference with corals. Great learning experience as this is my first tank. They are in a nuvo 10 under a prime hd until my larger tank is ready.

I would definitely say that is a chalice. Everyone has given great advice I'd say. I had chalice loose flesh on the outside edge like that when the tank was too clean. Chalice need to eat. I would say it was getting maybe too much light and current, possibly overdosed cal and mag., and not getting food. Please make sure there is some nutrients in the tank.

The guys in the LPS section of the forum may of great help. That is a nice chalice and should be a beautiful piece.

i am pretty sure that is a chalice as well ! chalice are tough in new tanks. good luck !
