Im due to change my miracle mud in the sump and have found a stockist in the UK that has the moonshiners liquid mud its a small bottle and gives the amount per 100gal tank but i cannot find any reviews on the product if its benficial and were to dose it ie should it be in the sump or in the tank . Any help would be appreciated.thanks bill

My opinion from the description:

It looks to me like they’ve gone off the rails. Their original concept was reasonable but tedious: test many ions and replace individually. Not every element they suggested was sensible, but folks got good results from the others.

Now they seems to be going wild on the addition idea veering into elements with little or no known biological role;

Liquid-Mud provides the beneficial supplementation of natural occurring essential minerals and trace elements also known as Rare Earth Elements (REE),

With the Liqui-Mud, these minerals and trace elements that are very difficult to dose, and are naturally based such as Beryllium, Gold, Gallium and many other minor trace elements, are simply supplemented on a daily basis with this Product.

I cannot see any reason to dose these.

The product may have benefits, but not for the reasons given.

Thank you for the reply

Have we really come full circle to the Aqua Equalizer 25 years later?

Whoda thoought that all you need is the Aqua Equalizer, some mud and bolus dosing. No more broken buffers, rare earth elements for that extra coral pop (though I would use tritium for a better glow) and a magic magnet to align all of the molecules and keep the water crystal clear. The brilliance and simplicity can't be overlooked!

What possible benefits could be from dosing mud? It’s so preposterous to me.

Muds have been sold for a long time. One claimed benefit is release of elements such as iron. I’ve not seen evidence that they do that to a useful extent, but it seems an especially odd way to go for a company whose whole mantra is (was) adding only exactly what you need based on testing.

I thought the mud was a way to add natural bacteria or some other marketing claim.

It’s easy enough to dose iron if that’s what the mud is for.

Miracle mud makes many claims, including trace elements:
Features

  • Supports trace element levels
  • Excellent particle size for biofilter, both aerobic and anaerobic
  • May assist in prevention of HLLE
  • Compatible with fish only & reef aquariums

you dont dose miracle mud its in the sump when tank cycling , this is a liquid form and the question was what are the benefits and were to dose ie back in the sump its a moonshiners product and they seem to be highly rated. My tank has run since 2015 and packed with sps so it may need a boost again .???????

Here is the list in the liqui-mud:

Contains along with small amounts of Phosphates, Silicates and natural occurring Amino Acids and Vitamins the following:

Antimony, Beryllium, Bismuth, Cerium, Cesium, Copper, Dysprosium, Erbium, Europium, Gadolinium, Gallium, Germanium, Gold, Hafnium, Holmium, Indium, Iridium, Lutetium, Neodymium, Niobium, Osmium, Palladium, Platinum, Praseodymium, Rhenium, Rhodium, Ruthenium, Samarium, Scandium, Selenium, Tantalum, Tellurium, Terbium, Thulium, Thorium, Tungsten, Ytterbium, Yttrium, Zirconium

It's not mud in the traditional sense. It's a liquid additive. I love it and it works well for me. Dose it once a week.

I'm still waiting for fluorescently labeled coral foods to get them colors to POP!

I think its a mixed bag of users from RM that actually use this stuff. And its not a “mud” like miracle mud or AF life source

do you dose it in the sump im with you once a week but i read to dose daily as the trace diminishes quickly , have you had any negative effects .thanks

What exactly does it “work well” at for you?

Wow, sounds very impressive. :(

Seriously, what trace element is disappearing quickly that this product adds, and what use is the element?

I think this is a sad development where claims about elements such as gold being dosed sound good but make no sense.
