moonshiners liquid mud

My opinion from the description:

It looks to me like they’ve gone off the rails. Their original concept was reasonable but tedious: test many ions and replace individually. Not every element they suggested was sensible, but folks got good results from the others.

Now they seems to be going wild on the addition idea veering into elements with little or no known biological role;

Liquid-Mud provides the beneficial supplementation of natural occurring essential minerals and trace elements also known as Rare Earth Elements (REE),

With the Liqui-Mud, these minerals and trace elements that are very difficult to dose, and are naturally based such as Beryllium, Gold, Gallium and many other minor trace elements, are simply supplemented on a daily basis with this Product.

I cannot see any reason to dose these.

The product may have benefits, but not for the reasons given.
Randy, would you say that about all these 'super duper' muds you can purchase nowadays?

I’ve heard mud from California brings out more “blue” in your corals but makes them slightly “whimpy” ….whereas mud from Texas brings out more red but growth is much slower

Muds whose intent includes useful trace elements such as iron can possibly have value, at least if you do not dose it.

I have obtained a permit - I will be selling "tank tar" soon. It is straight from the Le Brea Tar Pits. It includes ancient elements and the remnants of (microscopic mind you) mammoth and mastodon bones. They will help your large stony coral build their skeletons and those of the dire wolf will boost immunity. The tar itself provides many trace elements and the oils from the asphalt will give your corals a rainbow shine. Unlike some other muds, you only have to use this once or twice a year depending on tank size. We don't call it dosing... we call it paving the path to a healthier tank.

I think this is an oxymoron.
They are talking about two different products.

You don’t dose miracle mud - that’s placed in the sump during cycle stage

“this is a liquid form” - is referring to the moonshiners “mud” which sound like it really is a liquid just being called mud.

The only way to tell if its beneficial is to try it as with everything in the hobby loads of opinions and snake oils but not one photo of your tanks and reasons not to use it . So i will try on a small amount weekly as one reefer said ,My start pic just taken and product ordered Thanks

You seriously believe the only way to know if something might be useful is to try it?

hundreds of years of scientific studies not finding any biological role in any organism of, say, gold or beryllium or gallium (the three they specifically call out) is not convincing. But one reefer adding it and claiming a benefit is absolutely convincing?

It doesn’t do anything. I used it for years while on the RM method. One day I ran out and never got more. Nothing in my tank changed.

You can not test for anything it is adding and anything it does add has no value to the system.

Like most things RM, it’s a lot of talk with no walk.

Sorry you do not find scientific truth a proper response.

Randy had the proper response. RM “mud” contains elements with no known biological role. That is all you need to know that RM claims are rubbish about this product

I agree with everything Randy said. From the companies origins being reasonable, to this mud product being outlandish and supplementing things that have no proven benefit or value
