Hi everyone!

I'm looking for the most quiet return pump for a bedroom setup.
The volume of my tank is 110l / 29gal and I will connect the pump to a cooler (Teco TK500) which has a min / max flow of 400-800l / h (105-210gal / h).
I have looked at the Abyzz A100. What do you think, would it be possible to run it continuously at say 3-5%?
And if so, would that be the most quiet option for my application?
I gratefully accept suggestions.

Thanks!

Two quietest I’ve personally have used or seen is Abyzz or Red Dragons. Silent and extremely durable and reliable. Worth the cost IMO.

Thanks for all the replies!:)

Regarding Vectra, I have read to many reviews and seen videos on youtube where users have complained about humming and various noises to dare to go that route.
And regarding Jebao, there have also been some less good reviews, especially when it comes to reliability.
Most people seem to be very happy with these pumps, but I am not willing to take a chance.

I am looking for the best pump that works for my application.
The most important thing for me is that it is as quiet as can be.
The price is less important.

Does anyone here who has personal experience with Abyzz pumps know if it is possible to run them at very low speeds continuously?

I have a red dragon, and my vote would be for that or the abyzz. You may want to contact the manufacturer about running them that low constantly, but they are meant to do that after all.

For your application, I would be more concerned about the overflow and plumbing than the return pump. As that is going to likely be a much more important factor regarding noise/potential noise from circulation between a sump and display.

That stated, there are many viable options that have been recommended already that would likely work for you just fine.

I also use a jebao and it is completely quiet and has been completely reliable for me for a little over 2 years now. If you are looking at Abyzz I'm sure you won't settle for Jebao, but imagine you could have the Jebao and 10 backups for the cost of the Abyzz.

Any true DC pump with a speed controller should be near silent. I used a Jebao DC model and I couldn’t even tell it was on. worked well without any issues. For AC pumps, Tunze and Sicce are the quietest but neither are as quiet as a DC. There’s no point in spending a ton of money on a Vectra. It does not pump water better than any other.
If you got money to blow, you can get a Abyzz or Red Dragon and they will last for many years but again is that worth the money? Eh. You could buy 3-4 Jebao for the price of the Vectra and a dozen Jebao for the price of an Abyzz.

Yes prazi pro is eel safe, Ive found it effective for mild cases of internal parasites. If I'm really concerned, once they are eating, I will follow up with metro/focus. I've had many cases of fish not eating, and after prazi pro their appetite comes back. That's how I figured that many fish not eating may be caused by internal parasites. That's if all other concerns are met as well; like a health,y size appropriate, and relatively stress free environment.

Agree here 100%. I sold my vectra to replace with Jebao haha, I use two return pumps for redundancy, I personally don’t think that vectras will last any longer.

Abyzz is in its own category however but the price reflects that

+1 on the Jebao. I've only had mine for a couple months but it's silent. I bought the biggest one that would fit in my sump (Jebao 13000) and run it at 50%. Couldnt be happier.

I've used both the Vectra L2 and RO Varios 8 and both had a noticeable hum. I was completely disappointed as many reefers stated these pumps were "dead" silent. I'm honestly not sure if people understand what dead silent is, or maybe they were comparing it to their old AC pump, but they aren't dead silent. My jebao on the other hand, which was 1/3 the price, is ALMOST dead silent. I have an open sump area 5ft from where I sleep and I cannot hear a thing.

I did the research as well and found some issues with the Jebao pumps but the pros outweighed the cons. There are many people who have used their pumps for years without any issues. Nothing is perfect, so I always expect some unlucky person to fall into the issues category. But for the cost and performance I was pleasantly surprised. Just buy an extra one just in case, but it's unlikely you'll need it.

Abyzz and Red Dragon pumps are dead silent because they use brushless motor blocks. Other DC pumps do not. I haven't owned an Abyzz or Red Dragon so I cannot contribute real world experience. But I would expect at those price points that they would work as advertised.

If you don't mind spending the money then by all means go for it. If you're looking for a less expensive alternative I would recommend the Jebao Sinewave pumps.
