Mr. Coral Auctions, Who's been winning?

Hey fellow R2Rers!

So as many of us know Mr. Coral has been putting up a ton of pretty nice morphs of corals on ebay. The prices get pretty high, so that should mean that there are a lot of people bidding on them.

Has anyone on R2R been winning these pieces? I haven't really heard of anyone showing off their purchases.

Note: This is not a Mr. Coral bashing thread or a Mr. Coral review thread either etc. Not interested in hearing about his quality reviews or quality of livestock, so please don't post about that or else the thread may be closed.

I just want to know who's won any of the recent bids and if you did please post pics! Those rainbow palys look pretty cool along with a few of his other morphs! I'm still envious of whoever got the Cardiac Arrest one a few months back.

I too have been watching his Rainbow auctions and have been dying to see some hobbyist pics of them!

Edit: Cardiac Arrest? Did you save a picture of it?

I would hope not since that would be a copyright violation, if done so without express permission from the owner of any photograph...

Nope, not even close. All photos are copyrighted, by the photographer, the moment the shutter is pressed. Fair Use Doctrine is very limited and refers to News Agencies, technical criticisms, library archiving and a couple more very limited uses.

Right Click>Save is a violation of copyright law. Posting any photo found on the internet, without receiving permission, unless it's found in an area where permission is explicitly given, such as Creative Commons, is a copyright violation. As a matter of fact, even though it's water marked, unless you received permission, your avatar is a copyright violation...the act of purchasing a coral, from a photo, does not imply permission...lol

I would like to see some pictures of these polyps too! They look amazing in the auction photos!

Concerning returnofisd's statement, that is really interesting, especially since my computer, and most computers, explicitly offers me the option to "Save Image As" only by me right clicking the image of my choice. You would think they would not allow this option on computers as early on as in the designing stage. Then again, this may not be the law in every country, so I guess that might be why? A different example of a similar, but theoretical, situation: Tonya takes a photo of her friend Bob at a party and post's the picture of him on her facebook page. Bob likes the picture, so he makes it his profile picture on several websites further than facebook. Would this not technically be illegal by the same law you stated? (I am not being sarcastic in any of this, I truly find it interesting)

If I read the law right, it has to FIRST be copywritten for it to be copyrighted....

Couldn't find it on the ebay app either. Guess you can only do it off a pc.

This is actually an international law, as well as federal, recognized by most countries. Yes, in your scenario, Bob is guilty of copyright infringement. Keep in mind, we use Right Click>Save As, for many legal reasons. Most vehicles are capable of going faster than any speed limit, doesn't make it legal to do so.

You read the law wrong. Copyright is established, as soon as the shutter is pressed.

"Registered" is different and does require further action. "Registered" allows for harsher "punishment" in the event of a copyright infringement.

You can type "seller: thecoralfarmer" and it should pull the seller up.

Yeah once you press the shutter button it's your picture. Registered is a different thing.
