msab's Red Sea Reefer 450 Build

How is the DIY fuge working out? I was thinking about doing this on my new Reefer450. I noticed the new Trigger Systems Triton sumps have the fuge before the skimmer and was thinking about duplicating that.

Its doing great! I removed the Fiji mud because the cheato spins and would stir it up. Every 2-3 weeks I have a solid brick of cheato that I take down to a baseball size. A few months ago I drained the sump and deep cleaned it with a wet/dry vacuum. It was nice that I could easily remove it.

The tank is making it though the Thomas, CA wildfire. Terrible air quality and high CO2 levels. I removed the air intake from outside till things clear up. Today was the first day of normal air and the ph is back up:

Latest tank shot. Glass is a bit dirty:

Looks good. So do you think having the light in the sump creates more algae on the glass down there? I was debating between a fuge and the Skimz reactor for that reason.

Anyway, here's the divider I worked on tonight. I plan to drill some holes through for water flow.
