MTRC Coral Library

I was looking through some posts and saw that ETRC has a coral library. I at first tried to figure out what a coral library would be.
I think it we be cool if we had one. Every person could add a different piece of coral and once a year we could frag off pieces. Any input, has anyone heard or tried this?????????? LMK

We talked about doing it about a year ago or so it did not last at all and no the frags would not be free

Oh lol my bad well I thank that's a good Idia or all of us frag and keep them in a tank for the frag swap and whoever gave gets 10% of what the frag makes the rest of the cash goes to the club

most frag are $20 to $30 at 10% you would only get $2 to $3 no one would frag something for that

I have no idea how it would work, when it was proposed how were they going to do it?

That also would mean the person that keeps the tank up would have to keep up with who's frag is who's just a big headache for someone

I would be more interested to have it be something where everyone contributes. And maybe we use it for giveaways. Or everyone gets to choose one piece to frag a year. Or for those the contributed after a year we could frag one piece a month for meeting. Just ideas.

I would rather just keep track of who contributed. Anything except xenia.

Hey guys, don't mean to but in.....the way we handle the library is the club purchased a frag pack with club funds and grew out enough polyps to supply club members. The club keeps a minimum of one polyp of each different morph in the "club frag tank", so that in case the 'loaned out" coral dies there is still a replacement. Our BOD came up with the rules and so far they have worked well: the rules were laid out in this thread.

We started it a different way. This was an idea I came up with that we the BOD tweaked and it has gone very well so far. I would suggest having Rob explain it to you at frag swap. It would be a lot for me to type, lol.

How will you know who gets what I mean if somebody buys a frag who gets the money or trade

We will start this if we get 50+ members at the meeting Sat. LOL and if you read Chris's thread this may not work if you can't sell or trade frags of some kinds

That's correct, the checkout fee is minimal though. Like utter chaos is $25 to check out. Or strawberry wines $5-$10 I think. So only a small fee when compared to retail
