So what are they?

Light? (If so what? I am thinking about using my gen 3 xr30)

Rimless?

Hang on equipment?

I don't plan on running this with a skimmer.

ATO !!!!
You plan on sticking to HOB ?
Definitely ATO. I have a tunze that ill put on it I might need to find a different ATO reservoir though. Right now I just use a brute tote and it's kind of tacky haha.

HOB being hang on the back? Idk.

My plan was to try and use some marine pure that I have ( ill have to cut it since it's 4x8x8) filter floss for the top of the middle chamber, find a place to throw a bag of carbon. And then run some sort of fuge on it. With it not being my main permanent DT I didn't want to go too crazy on it. I will probably use it for a QT /hospital tank later.

I plan on setting this up bare bottom from the start.

Lighting is one option. Then there is:

1. Remove false bottoms in reach chambers
2. Upgrade return pump
3. Smooth / even out wall chamber 1/2 divider (29 gallon biocubes had a cut out)
4. DIY or InTank media basket chamber two
5. Chamber 2 refugium / in-tank led light to grow chaeto if you want
6. Random Flow Nozzle / VCA on return
7. Steves, RapidLED, or DIY blue acro LED's - nanobox is another
8. Remove top if you want, add CPR BakPak skimmer on chamber 2 area

List goes on. Just use favorite search engine for biocube 29 mods. Best of luck.

Didn’t know your doing a all in one tank.

I assume with all of this you have a cube? Do you have any pics?

I replaced the media rack with in tank media rack and refugium. I plan to grow acropora so i have an acrylic lid on order and an ai hydra 26 light to go over it,

Did you do a diy media rack?? If not, do you have a link to the one you used?

Egg crate with zip ties as a media basket

I used to have a pair of 29 gallon bio-cubes. Thus the list of what I did to mine. Based off other nano tanks / cubes. One had Steve's LED retro kit the other one from Rapid LED. Both had upgraded mag pumps, removed false bottoms, evened out chamber 1 top. One had a in-Tank media rack the other I modified the hood so that I could add the CPR Bak Pak skimmer. I later combined those two into a 40 breeder then last year moved that into a 210 gallon.

Biocubes are pretty solid tanks with the only main challenge being the turn over inside. Some power heads are too large so that was my only complaint. Nano forum is a good source and I did a lot of searches. Some things made sense like removing the false bottom so detritus doesn't build up, ditching the bioballs, etc. Rest is up to personal choice.

No photos I'm afraid - sorry. Those tanks have been down now for about 7 years.

This is what we did in one of ours. The other had the inTank kit along with the fish guard. Clowns kept going over the back wall for some reason.
Did you prefer the egg crate? It was the inTank worth the money??

You know, they both worked if I was to be honest. I like the inTank products. It was well built and worked like they said. I don't remember why we bought it if truth be told but after we received it my son was looking at a few things then said we could build one similar to what someone else did. Water over flows into chamber two and will flow down onto a bag of carbon, chemi pure, purgen, etc. I think we used a couple different things from time to time and it worked.

The return pump upgrade helps pulling the water between chambers and it wouldn't matter if it was inTank or one you built with zip ties. The idea is the same and will work. The rack we had from inTank included the fish guard but my understanding the new/updated cubes have that already built in(?). I think we paid around 1oo - 110 dollars. You could maybe make your own and divert the money to other things which is nice for your tank if you want.

So the new tanks come with a Media basket. But the inTank guys say it sucks. The only real down fall I see, is it's rather large (takes up the whole second chamber) I also decided to go with the rimless look.

I like the combo of the inTank media basket and their fuge. But idk if it's worth the 100 dollars plus 50ish for a magnetic light

If you go with the intank fuge basket, find a way to isolate the chaeto near the bottom (where flow is highest) and a good flat fuge light that doesn't bleed light into your room and the rest of the back chamber (black vinyl works well to prevent this).

Doing this has resulted in explosive chaeto growth, limited detritus buildup within, and almost no nuisance algae growth in the back chamber.

Here's some pics of my setup.

So this is the inTank fuge box??

Also what light is this

I only use a skimmer in my 29 cube, no other filter media. It’s a Aquamaxx in the 2nd chamber.

I think you need at least 1 additional powerhead, I have 2. I also modded the return into a manifold to get more even flow.
