Great setup!

Only concern I would have would be the Coralife UV - have heard a lot of problems with them.

I would go the Pentair or Aqua route instead.

And if you can - reinforce the Marineland tank top brace - they have been "known" to split on occasion.

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I didn't find much negative feedback on them when I did research. They are a huge company that's been making tanks for years and years.

Their smaller tanks are fine. There have been a few failures on their large tanks.

Yeah, I wanted to get their 265 - but didn't.

I decided on the Aqueon 210 gallon instead.

I have a Marineland 220 that had a seal leak on the bottom when I bought it. I resealed it myself and have had 0 problems with mine. Braces seam sturdy all around so far as well.

Well I looked it up. I only saw where they had 1 Marineland tank go bad. But I didn't search the entire web forever for it. But my point is just because 1 person had a problem doesn't mean it's a bad brand. Every product ever made in the history of making products is bound to have a failure rate. Yes they are not the most expensive super ultra custom tanks, but I'm pretty sure they are reliable or the brand would be gone. They have been around forever. I'm pretty sure it might have been a rare and unfortunate event that happened to them. But the tank is already purchased and delivered, so no going back now. But thanks for the heads up.

No I completely appreciate it. I'm just from a background of where you don't take one bad apple as the way it is. I did my research on every piece of equipment I decided to go with and of course with each product there is always someone who will complain. So I go by the amount of positives also. Not just the negatives. I'm glad you are telling me now. It won't change the tank I already have purchased, but I'll surely keep a closer eye on it now.

We actually had (2) 300g Marineland tanks that failed. The first one before the 6 month mark (bottom seal rupture). The second was a custom 300g tank built by Perfect (Marineland) as a replacement. The custom tank had a bubble in the left back corner seam - the seal failed after 4 years of operation. In our area alone, there have been several deep dimension tanks that have failed and Marineland has replaced them under warranty and/or covered damage. Since yours is not a deep dimension (36" width) it may not have the same issues.

They do have a lifetime limited warranty if they fail and are on a Marineland stand - otherwise, the warranty is 1 year.

That's awesome! So you were in there within the last week and saw all my stuff sitting there waiting? The guys down there are pretty nice. I actually went to 3 other places the day I decided to get going in this hobby and the other 3 places were so un-helpful I walked out. If only they knew what my intentions were.

The sad thing is if the knew ur intentions they prolly would have been nice. Nothing worse then getting horrible customer service what the lfs stores should realize is there is a thing called the internet and it can put them out of business. But if they are nice no matter what the intentions say I was just browsing with no intentions of buying and they went out of there way to help me I would tell people hey that store over there was nice and by word of mouth people would go in to buy stuff because of the customer service it's a shame sorry just my rant and yea u went all out that day and I can't wait to see what is in store for us

I agree. I come from a 20 years sales background, so if you treat me good I'll buy. The first store I went into I said "Hi, I'm looking to start up a tank, do you guys sell full setups?" The kid said, "yeah, just go on the internet and find stuff you like and then just tell us, and we will order it for you" then walked away... in my days of sales, when I customers TELLS you they want to BUY, what more of a buying signal do you need? SMH. But it all worked out the way it was supposed to. I'm glad I didn't buy from that first store, because now armed with all the knowledge I've learned over this past month I went back in and realized that place was hideously disgusting. I'm happy with where I ended up.

Sales .. those guys seem to have it together up there. I tend to Goole SW fish store on my travels with work. I tell myself its a stress reliever. I've seen a variety of stores. Iv even brought back frags from VA recently. If you can't get it done someone else is in line that will.

I know of at least 5 people that have had marine land tanks. 4 leaked from a seam the other was a failure in bottom glass after tank was running over 1.5 years. And getting the replacement was a nightmare to say the least.

So here is my finalized (possibly) design for my plumbing. I would like to hear your ideas. I was originally going to have my LFS do the plumbing but due to unforeseen circumstances that I will address shortly, it won't happen that way, so I am doing it myself. So I'd also like to hear from you about things I need to know about doing my own plumbing.
