My 400 gallon Pred tank build

Clean build so far, can't wait to see the progress[emoji106]

actually yes it is strong enough...I am president of the board of directors on this building so I went through the blueprints. Its a hollow core concrete(rebar reinforced) built similar to a parking garage. I have the tank 6 inches from the main support wall for the building)

I guess I should list my fish choices...I have several at the store waiting...I plan to add max 1 every 4-7 days...

Tessalatta eel (have already)
Orange spot rabbitfish (have already)
Volitan Lionfish
Panther Grouper
Cuban Hogfish
Spanish Hogfish
Porcupine Puiffer
Harlequin Tusk
Miniatus Grouper
Niger Trigerfish

I am going to watch this one. It is great to see the build in progress

ok i'll start with the tank...its 8 ft long by 32 inches high by 30 inches wide. its made of 5/8 beveled glass. there are 2 1 foot wide 5/8 glass cross braces as well as 3 inch eurobracing all around.

the lighting is 2 3 foot Ledzeal Malibu lights with controller...I currently have it set for a 2 hour sunrise followed by 8 hours daylight ending with a 2 hour sunset.

the sump is lit by a 2 foot long single t5 bulb

inside the tank are 2 Jebao RW-15 with controller...they are mounted on my overflow with one set as master and the other as slave mode

the pump is a Reeflo Yellow Tail that does 4300gph water turnover.

Protien skimmer is a reef octopus Regal 300

the dry rock is 150 pounds of Marcos Rock with 25 pounds of live Marcos Rock...I used Prodibio to get the bacteria cycle jump started.

Using my BRS RODI unit it took me just over 8 days to fill the main tank:P

thank you)...I live in a building that has 44 suites...approximately 75% of the units are philipino, 2 are Korean, rest are mixed middle east/African, and one white guy...ME!...
there are 4 of us running various tanks, with a guy on the top floor running 7 tanks...30-150 gallon. Half the building have brought their kids to see mine so far.

Fish are being added slowly so as to not overtax the system. My addition this week will be my porcupine puffer(his name is porky). he's approx. a foot long and loves to eat squid)...i'll add the 2 hogfish the following week, followed by the groupers, harlequin tusk, and finally the trigger..

that will give me an active and colorful tank with reds,orange,yellow,purple,blue...

still haven't started up my protein skimmer yet:P but now that hair algae is growing on the glass bottom maybe its time)

had a few changes in my plans...first off I'm still at 2 fish...the Tessalatta Eel and the Orange Spot Rabbitfish. I have not yet added a protein skimmer mainly due to finances...work is slow atm so I cannot justify 1k for a skimmer right now. I did add a pile of snails to help work on the algae, and the rabbitfish is almost obscenely fat from eating nonstop. The eel is very fast(bit me 3 times so far)...thankfully crazy glue seals his wounding fast)

I have altered my fish list but will be adding the 2 hogfish this weekend. Unfortunately the puffer didn't survive(passed at the LFS)...

Hello fellow Winnipegger'ite, and nice setup you have there. Quite similar to what we are wanting to do here, and are still gleaning/researching as much as I can before jumping in.

I'll be watching this, for sure.

added some new fish tonight...Green Bird Wrasse....Humahuma trigger, Flamengy(sp) tang....and tried to add a snowflake eel...but the tessalatta almost killed im in under 30 seconds...barely managed to save him without bad damage
