I am waiting on some scraper blades in the mail to hand scrape all of the oak, then I have to scrape,sand,stain,poly,sand,poly,sand,poly.... Lol the doors Velcro on and off I loved it on my last tank it's how I did them, however the front canopy door is 9 feet long so I may put some actuators in, still undecided but can be easily done later... I will be going to get the crown and rest of the oak for lower stand later .... Don't forget I still also have to put the aluminum on the canopy as well, far from finished but moving along! Thanks everyone!

Subscribed! Tank design looks great. Looks like no drilling the bottom glass? If so, well done. Changing a leaking BH after five years would be easier on back panel for sure, especially in a sand bed setup.... My three BH's in overflow box, eliminated seals and siliconed in male sides as I saw in another build. Question on baffles, I am going from acrylic sump to 40 glass breeder for my sump and is 1/4 inch glass what you used? Did you prep edges or have polished? How did you address bottom corners of baffles where they touch silicone seal of bottom sump panel? Did you notch those seals and re-silicone?

I used 3/8 glass I believe, I had my local tank builder cut the. For me and he sanded all the edges smooth. Look in the earlier part of the thread where I built the sump, I stood it on edge and started from bottom to top, sides and bottom all have silicone you just have to leave yourself enough room to get the gun in there. Hope that helps!

This is going to be one epic tank! Can't wait to see what you are going to put in there!!!

I have about 75 different acros awaiting the new tank now! Also have about 20 different favias and chalices, I have a feeling that's not gonna be enough! Lol good thing my good buddy Tom has a HUGE frag pack waiting for me in a few months....

Following this one for sure. The attention to detail is fantastic, especially on the carpentry side. Beautiful work. Keep those updates coming :)

Thank you very much! Glad your enjoying the thread!

Well small update I decide to put in a small test frag of a green milli I have had for a long time.... Polyps right out and is looking good I made a makeshift light rack for the one light for now just to get things going.... I was also able to catch a clownfish I've had for about three years now he's a buckshot clown from booyahs clowns..... He don't know what to do in this big tank he swam around for a bit and then went right up to the overflow box to chill just like previous tank he was in.... Weird! If things look good over the weekend I may try to catch my other fish! Which are....

10" Naso tang
10" vlamingi tang
5" lieutenant tang
2" thread fin Cardinal
3" scopas tang
2 1/2" potters angel

I also have a 6" Xmas wrasse and a 6" sail fin tang, I don't think they will be joining in tho... Not a lot of fish for a 240 huh, I used to have 25 fish in the 240 but lost quite a few when I redid it along time ago...

Well more to come.... More work on stand and canopy over the weekend...

Lol can't tell if that clown is dancing to the music or confused why his home got so small

Nice trim work! So, Velcro holds all three panels? Looking forward to pics of the hand scraped wood effect.

Yes it's heavy duty Velcro they sell at Home Depot... I started some scraping today I'll post up some pics tomorrow afternoon when it's done being scraped....

On another note I moved over 8 colony's today and they all seem to be doing great as far as I can tell, they all currently have great poly extension. I am a little nervous about moving everything because I know by other system is really rich in nutrients. I feed heavy and I really think that when you feed heavy and use strong metal halide lighting you get the best coloration. At least that's my experience. So that worries me a bit... But I will have a very low bio load, only 6-10 fish.... So will see what happens. I have back up frags of everything at a good buddy's house so so here we go..... :) more updates to come! Thanks everyone!
