My 57 Rimless

Hawaii Trip

I recently went on vacation in Hawaii. I was on the island of Honolulu. It was my first time snorkeling and absolutely fell in love with it. Here are some photos from the trip. If anyone can help explain to me how to upload videos I have some great underwater ones I'd like to upload.

I've been so busy lately I haven't had any time to take photos of the tank. On Sunday I set some time aside to take some photos. I used the Iphone 6 with a Lifeproof case. There is still a lot of blue in the photos, but it's fun to be able to take underwater shots.

My only chalice coral. I thought about selling this one. It just doesn't excite me.

Sunset Monti. This coral bleached when I moved it to this tank. It's taken several months, but the color is coming back. When the color is full I love this coral. I have tons of frags from this.

Engineering Goby. This is the newest member of the tank. He's taken over part of the Watchmen Goby and Pistol Shrimp home, but everyone is getting along. Right now he's about 8" long.

I am starting to see some Cyno on my sand bed and some of the rocks. I've also had a lot of bubble algae as of late. I just tested the tank to see if anything is off. Here are my results.

Salinity 1.025
Nitrate 0 (tested with Red Sea)
Phosphates 0 (tested with Hanna)
Calcium 350 (tested with Red Sea)
Carbonate Hardness 4.76 (tested with Hanna)
Magnesium 1280 (tested with Red Sea)

With Nitrate and Phosphates at 0 I would think I wouldn't have these issue. I have hope if I bring Calcium up to 400, KH up to 8 and Magnesium up to 1300 it would eliminated the Cyno and bubble algae. Do you have any recommendations or thoughts? I'd love to hear them.

I will be starting the Triton method this weekend. I will finally have time to set up the dosing pump. I'm really looking forward to see how things change using this method.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and finds time to enjoy your tanks.

My Ornate Leopard Wrasse is looking very fat and possible pregnant. Has anyone had any luck or have tips how raising Leopard Wrasse? I'd like to get prepared if she starts laying eggs. I'm so pumped about this. I really hope she is prego!!!

How is the cyano issue going as it could be a problem with low flow in that area or detritus build up in that area as well when I b had a little start in mine I just increased the flow to that spot and it went away

I don't think flow is the issue. I realized that my Engineering Goby died and was decaying. I think that caused the issue. I have not removed his body and it's starting to slow down. I hope it's all gone in a month.
