My 57 Rimless

I picked up these zoas last night from my LFS. Does anyone know what their name is if they have one? They have two layers of pink strips on their skirt, the center is a very bright orange with black speckles throughout.

My clam seems to be doing very well. It always has a nice growth ring on the top of it's shell.

This electric green torch is splitting into two heads. I'm looking forward to this one become a larger colony of 6-8 heads.

This is an acan from of 5 baby heads from my larger colony. The larger colony has about 35-40 heads. I bought it a year ago with 3 heads. The color has become much brighter as well. I have found feeding acans once a week improves their growth tremendously.

I just got in a Canon 6D with 24-70L lens I rented to photograph a family members wedding. I'm looking forward to spending sometime photographing the tank. I wish I had a macro lens.

I final set up my dosing pump to start the Triton method. I'm using the Jebao DP-4 doser. I found it very easy to calibrate and set up. There are a couple YouTube videos that make it very easy. I bought 4 one gallon jugs from Walmart. Then found the faucet hook-up tube at my local hardware store. The faucet tube is used to keep the plastic tube straight and at the bottom. I drilled holes on the side of the jugs rather then the top so I could stack them. I also built a shelf to hold the dosing pump and drilled a hole out the back of the stand right where the power plugs in so the doser can be pushed right against the back wall. It's very tight under my stand so ever inch is valuable. You can see I have my auto top off water right next to the Triton jugs.

I cleaned my glass this morning. Every time I clean the glass my acans open right up. Is there a reason for this? I snapped some shots with no lights on. This is just the little bit of natural light come in from the window.

Nice Loving The Tank

Thanks man. I so happy with it. I'm still having a cyno issue and bubble algae issue. The bubble algae doesn't bother me as much as the cyno. I just started Triton and I'm working on getting my perimeters in check. Once I do and the cyno is still an issue I might have to resort to trying Red Slime Remover.

When I had cyano in my 57 rimless I just increased flow to that area and added rowaphos to my sump and the issue went away quick and hasn't came back

Beautiful tank! I miss my old 57 gal...

Thank you. Did you upgrade?

I have my Gyre at a speed where it slowly moves the sand around if I go any faster it creates sand storms. Isn't the rowaphos a phosphate remover? My phosphates are zero at the moment and my nitrates at 1.25.

looks great. the extra light from the sun isn't an issue?

Thank you. I think the corals love the extra sun. Maybe the extra sun could be part of my cyno and bubble algae issue?

Yes Rowaphos Is Phosphate And Silicate Remover but when algae is present you could be getting a false reading as I had " 0 " level as well
