My 75g rebuild

I got the new reactor canister for my BRS single reactor and it now has a cup of carbon and a half cup of GFO in it and I will change it out every 2-3 weeks that's one more check off of my list

Nice! I have a BRS reactor that I was going to use for carbon, but I think I'm also going to run GFO.

This is the first time I have run GFO I have always just run carbon in it so its a waiting game to see how it works I did it this way to eliminate adding another peice of equipment when I can run the carbon and GFO together

Any updates on your tank? Have you had good results with the GFO & Carbon? I finally got my reactor set up and I'm currently running carbon only, I just ordered GFO and will add it when it's time to change my carbon!

As far as the GFO goes it's kinda hard to tell I think it's helping I don't have to clean the glass as often and the algae in the tank isn't speeding so I would say it's working as far as running it with the carbon not sure if this is the best way to run it but I think it's the easiest and I will post picks later on today when I get home

Less algae on the glass is definitely a good indication that it's working. Running the media separate is best, but it's nice that we have the option to mix it and still get results, that's good enough for me. Looking forward to the pictures!

Just did a 10g water change tank is looking ok perms are prefect just need to figure out how to get rid of the Algae on the rocks and sand or whatever it is lol

Yeah, that green hair algae is a total pain! I actually got rid of most of it using Phosphate Rx, spraying the easy to remove rock with Hydrogen Peroxide and scrubbing the rock that still had the algae on it with my long handled scrub brush. After you add the Phos RX it weakens the algae and makes it easier to scrub off! Trochus, Nasarius and Astrea snails do a great job of cleaning the algae off also. Now that I have my Starry Blenny and One spot Foxface in there, they are also cleaning it up!

It's not hair algae though lol it's a light brown collar and grows mostly on the sand and the rocks have some thing on it that looks like dead Algae and its blows off and floats to the top of the tank but I am also ordering a starry blenny for my tank along with a diamond gobby to sift the sand

Mine doesn't look green either! I was told if you take something out and the algae goes limp, it's hair algae, Yours looks the same as mine did!
