Whattt!! Are you getting out Perry?
My reef is the best it's ever looked! This to me is my best yet, and leaving while my corals abd fish are healthy, and knowing they are going to a great home, means everything to me! After losing my grand baby, my wife, her dad, and my dad in a years time, was enough to crush most! I never enjoyed it the reef the same, and took up few hobbies. I fell in love with plants and gardening and what it brings me, the reef couldn't. I have an intense workout schedule and new career ahead as well. I also want to travel more, and not feel so tethered to my reef. You have my number ;) Keep in touch, and become the new face of the industry, Jake would certainly approve! You are an amazing young man!

That's devastating Perry, I don't even know what to say. I'm sorry for your losses. Brings tears to my eyes just contemplating it. Much love brother, you have been an inspiration to us all. -David

Thank you kindly David!
I am approaching almost 3 years since Cindy, so in a much better place. We all have a story, this series of losses compelled me to make some serious life changes. I am in the best physical shape of my life at 52, working out twice per day, 6 days a week. My diet, routine, and lifestyle is pretty brutal, but I found peace and healing in it, so onward we go! Thank you for being a super amazing person!
Much love brother!

Got somewhere in mind, to go surfing, without the reef tethering you?

Perry, we did not talk much but I really enjoyed your presence on these forums and in the community. You will be missed, sorry to see you go. Best of luck in your endeavors.

Charlie

Dear Perry, wishing you well on your future endeavours.
Although sad to see you go, I like to t(h)ank you for sharing your experience, beautiful pictures and enthousiasm.
Glad to have stumbled upon your thread!!

To all you stickheads out there, keep pushing boundaries, question the industry, and realize this is a HOBBY! It doesn't take fancy equipment, high dollar frags, ICP tests, Ecotech, BRS, and these Overpriced coral vendors to find success! The influencers have glamorized this hobby, and it takes the real ones out there to keep this hobby truly moving forward, giving everyone an opportunity to keep a slice of the ocean in their care. R2R and information forums need you to keep the pay it forward mentality a reality. DO this by lifting one another up, and despite differences, pay compliments, and remember the ANIMALS deserve better than our stupid egos. I appreciate all of you guys commenting or not, all those who don't care for my style, I truly hope you as well, find great success, to those who care about these amazing creatures, thank you!
I could sell all these amazing creatures for good $, but, they deserve a hobbyist who has passion, with great honor, my buddy Matt, from New Smyrna is adopting my entire biome. I am so stoked to see how lit up he was when I asked him... Sand, water, media, fish, inverts, and all my killer smoothies will now be in his care. He won't cut them, or sell them, this is why I chose him! He is a hard working single father, who has been through a similar journey, so this was easy for me, and way less stressful.
In 2015, my buddy Chris, from Orange City FL contacted me, and said I am out, come pick up my reef! He wouldn't accept my $, but insisted I take his clown pair for his wife. My 120 was empty for the most part, so wham, I went to a full display in one day, for nothing. I have been this way since long before Chris contacted me, and over the years have made sure that "pay it forward " was the way. Please remember that abundance finds those who do not require it or seek it.
Bless up! Rastafari----

When I first saw the post that you were getting out I couldn't believe it. Had to check date. Just wanted to thank you for all contributions and inspiration Perry.
Best wishes and my prayers go with you. Rich

Perry, I’ll miss your contributions and hope one day you return to the hobby.
Your acros were certainly a reflection of your husbandry. Stellar work.

Best of luck to you in your path forward. I wish you nothing but the best, and of course one day putting the blue thumb back to work ;)

Perry, this makes me sad and happy for you all at the same time. We have always kept in touch here and there but now I am sad I didn't get over to see your tank again before you took it down. Your threads are really the only reason I even come to R2R much anymore.

I wish you well my friend. I look forward to the next time our paths cross.

Sorry to hear you're getting out Perry! I get it though. 8 months ago I was ready to walk away. I tried to sell the whole system and it wouldn't budge. Now I am setting it back up and you're getting out! It's the circle of things though brother. Appreciate everything you have done for the hobby and I am sure you'll dip your toes back into the hobby one day. Until then, we will keep it rolling and waiting for you! Best of luck to the future and until next time!

Update :)
I haven't missed the tank yet, and feel very relieved. My personal circumstances changed me forever.
I quit drinking, smoking, and converted to a lifestyle of EXTREME fitness and health. This began nearly 2 years ago. Gardening has replaced the reef passion, and designing herbal medicinal foods, rubs, tinctures, and elixirs has become overwhelming from an inner peace standpoint. On the 1 year anniversary of Cindy's passing, her children and I released her back to the sea, in Ormond Beach, right where we both grew up. That moment I promised to spend time with her in the ocean surfing, at 235 lbs, 37" waist, I had much work to do! I am now 164 lbs, 30" waist, and am more lean and vascular than when I was a lifeguard on these same beaches, back in 1988.
Interestingly, botany, and the soil web are very similar to reefing, much crossover. I am still equally passionate over the sea, and plan to continue the YouTube channel, possibly... Maybe Acro shows, or home reef visiting. I will likely add health and fitness content as well...
I would like to thank all of you so very much, I am deeply moved by your generous and loving comments, it truly means the world to me! I am so honored to be considered a top notch acro reefer by my peers, that is the deal to me :) I am still lurking, lol...

Congratulations @Perry with your new you. Thank you for all your contributions to our little community here. I hope you drop by from time to time. I don’t post much anymore but I’ve always enjoyed reading your posts. Your positivity, enthusiasm, attention to detail and reefing intuition is 2nd to no one. You are a great reefer but an even better person from what I can tell. This place won’t be the same without you.
