My ammonia cycle is complete

What should my first fish be ? Something easy to find and hardy - to keep the cycle going - I have been phantom feeding till now.
Was thinking Mollies ?

yes - no . There is nothing in the tank - no CUC just some macro algae

I would would get some CUC and I would go ahead and plan what you want to get since your cycled and your tank is ready .

i really want some fancy clowns - but don’t want to potentially lose an expensive fish . So something I can keep that will live with the clowns - maybe chromis ?

thanks - I followed the BRS ULM trial and have followed their cycling method - I started in late august with bleached rocks and a bottle of MicroBacter

I would get what you want to keep in the tank long term. If you go with mollies, be prepared for a long acclimation process from fresh to salt water and some possible losses. I would definitely start with a small CUC, and then make a list of what you want in the tank and the order in which you want to add them. Post your list and see what people think. Clowns are pretty hardy. I wouldn't worry too much about them.

It’s a 60 gallon cube , there is a 90gallon cube as well but that is not planned to be set up till end of next year

Clowns can be pretty aggressive and very territorial. Clowns are savages! (there's a thread on that) I might think about getting those last. That's what I am doing. Doesn't make it right, but i think it's something to at least think about. GL

edit: I wouldn't get 5-10 clowns. Maybe think about getting a mated pair. Yes, they are a little more expensive, but u know they are compatible. be well

So I removed a live rock from my display and didnt realize one of my damsel was hiding in there. He was out for a few minute and I put him back into the display. He was alive trying to catch his breath and then suddenly my 2 clowns dragged him into my bubbletip. RIP damsel. Couldn't react fast...

This is just going to be a clown focused tank . Thinking like the Harem style tanks(but it is too small) so hoping if I get a lot of babies and put them all in together at the same time there will be 2 weeks of squabbles and then they will have a pecking order . And with so many the aggression will be diffused amongst all of them not on one individual- my thinking anyway

I’ve heard about that. I’ve always thought you needed 1, 2, or 50
It would be pretty cool though, with a ton better of nems and clowns

arent clowns a type of damsel fish themselves so i could see the aggression and most other people on that post are talking about damsels also getting bullied i added 3 year old pair first to my tank other than getting my hand bite a couple times they could careless about any fish i add in my tank i got 2 bangai cardinals,firefish,royal gramma,clown goby and a sixline in the tank all added months after the clowns

Congrats on the cycle my fellow Vancouverite!
I just placed 2 clowns in my display tank. From what I've read, Chromis don't seem to last long. Since you're doing a clown tank, go with 2 Pec Clowns. They don't cost a lot, and are super hardy.

If you want more than a pair of clowns get them all at once and get small tank bred ones. Hopefully 1 will become the dominatrix female and the males will fall in line. You can always trade one in to the LFS if it seems to get bullied.
Forget about the other fish. With clowns you will have a lot of variety in looks and size. Next, pick out your big fat nem for them to play in.
