My anemone changed shape?

Exactly! I have 14 in my 120 tank. At anytime 10 can be bubbled and 4 not! And not the same 4! Science may discover someday that bubbletips like screwing with hobbyists sense of control! Lols
Haha sounds reasonable

What about nems that are neither bubbly nor long? Mine are short and skinny tentacles. The nems body stretches wide in my tank and tentacles get really skimpy and loses color. I have 6 nems that have done this...

Very odd

Agreed! Let's keep it friendly up in here. :D

On the topic of BTA bubbles, the jury is definitely still out on what causes them. There have been TONS of theories tested, and the result (so far) has been that no one thing consistently causes bubbles. So, while we'd all love to know what makes it happen, nothing has been even close to conclusively shown to do it (that I know of...please feel free to present any evidence I may be unaware of...I love to learn!).

The key is theories especially with an organism made up of cells having no gills or backbones. BTA anemones may or may not display their bubble-like features. These anemone varieties show their bulbous tips on their tentacles that are their characteristics. The tips of the anemones will have their characteristic bulbs based on several parameters including flow, light, bacterial count, color, and if its hosting a fish or not.

Test the theory yourself since DSC seems to be making it his life’s work to refute absolutely everything I say. I have personally dove on most major reef tracts and a long stringy anemone is not the norm at all.

Your statement is one theory as is water flow, light and even if the anemone is actively hosting a fish.
bear in mind, these forums are based on facts, opinions and even from trial and error and although we may not agree with many responses, we have to respect or ignore the response of others once in a while. Look what we deal with annually with weathermen. . . . LOL

Think of him like a water balloon. You will see him change into all sorts of different shapes (which can make him appear to change color, too!)

Don't forget that the anemone will move on it's own and find a place in your tank where it's happy. Changing flow patterns is one thing that will cause it to move. Bubbletip's dont usually move as much as other kinds of anemone's. But it is good to see any anemone sit still.
