My anemone changed shape?

It actually looks fine in that pic, I would leave it be and let it do it's thing.
Most BTA keepers would probably be stoked it's starting to bubble.

If you want long tentacles, LTA or crispa will have long flowing tentacles.
And the reason I wouldn't buy a LTA or crispa is because I like the colors of btas more than crispas or ltas

Many people do, I was just stating what is gauranteed to have long flowing tentacles as you mentioned seeking earlier.

Do crispas or ltas host clowns?

They are host anemones, yes.

In reality each clown species will have a natural host anemone match as found in wild, so best hosting results would be the right species of anemone for the species of clowns you have.

In actuality the most popular clowns, ocellaris and percula, are not really natural to BTA, so many people have problems w/ their clowns not recognizing and accepting BTA.

Often it takes a lot longer w/ non natural matches

Interesting I would figure hi light would make them grow shorter

That's BTA, no rime or reason.

Of all the anemone's I've had over the years, most all I can figure out where to place them and have them stay, BTA is the exception.

You would think clones would like same light and flow, but nope, not w/ BTA

That's why I don't keep BTA in mixed reefs anymore, too unpredictable, not a natural host to the clowns I prefer to keep.

There's honestly no telling what causes bubble tips or not. IMO, having bubble tips does not mean its healthier than an anemone with straight tentacles. We've had multiple bubble tip anemones right next to eachother and some would bubble and some would not. I would not put them in direct flow.
Exactly! I have 14 in my 120 tank. At anytime 10 can be bubbled and 4 not! And not the same 4! Science may discover someday that bubbletips like screwing with hobbyists sense of control! Lols

This is one of my favorite BTA's I've had.

It's perfectly healthy and beautiful color, but obviously no bubbled tips.

I got lucky and my percs to it fairly quickly, but that does not always happen.

Beautiful my anemone is really small will my clown fish trying to host in it bother it

Just an observation: A friend has a fair sized rainbow bubble tip. It always had 'bubbles' in it's arms... until he got rid of the pair of maroon clowns that were living in the 'nem... since that day, it's had straight tentacles.

I know, that doesn't jive with everyone else's experience... anecdotal, at best, but it's a true observation.

Bubble Tip Anemones are weird. Mine did just the opposite. Once a Clownfish started living in him, he went from bubbles to straight. I posted pictures here just yesterday:

Depends, what type of clowns, how big, size of anemone.

I like my anemone 3-4x the size of clowns or bigger, especially w/ overly zealous maroons or clarkis.

What clowns do you have?

Oscelaris or percula I dont really remember

Post pics for id, it's good to know, especially as they both have different natural host anemone matches, BTA not being natural to either.

So it could take time for them to accept a BTA maybe, and the plus side is that and the fact they are on the lesser side of being overly lovy and bothering nem if it's small.

Here's a blurry pic of it
