My aquariums

Yes protein skimmer is the only thing you need beside activated carbon if you want to make the water Chrystal clear...it takes all the extra protein out of the water including excess food if caught in it...
Ook!! Gotcha thank you!

What if I boil the city water?

I dont think that would be effective, but there are others that could explain that better than i could. @AZDesertRat is really knowledgeable on RODI units and city water. I tagged him, so hopefully he will chime in and explain better.

Yeah that sounds about right.. I do have nassarius snails and worms... been thinking about getting maybe a watchman or tiger goby for that reason but just haven't yet because I'm worried about the other 4 bottom dwellers I have.. do you know if those two mentioned gobies eat copepods, amphipods etc. Anything my mandarin would eat?

The compatibility of fish would go to @eatbreakfast possibly. I personally dont think there would be a problem there. Your mandarins will have a hard enough time getting enough food in a tank that size anyway. The scooter blennies eat pods as well, so really you have 4 fish that are eating them 24/7 in your tank.

Reverse osmosis.. wow lol.. so I'm assuming the way it gets the stuff out is by pressure and the pressure brings it to a certain temp to do that? Does anybody know what that temperature is or exactly how these filters work?

I don't think temp has anything to do with it...it just all by filtration....pressure....takes the particles out of the water including chlorine and chlorimine.

Thank yall for all the comments I learnt a lot today lol

So basically bottled water... that is very neat though specially I can drink that water too!!

yes, bottled you can drink and RO you can drink, which is close to RO/DI. Yes, in theory you can drink RO water, but not true RO/DI is so pure you should not even drink it as it will pull electrolytes from your body if you drink it to much and if done enough would make you very very sick. The deionizing resin in the final stage of the unit makes it so pure it actually is bad for you, but a great starting place to add salt, no worry of copper leaching from pipes or city pipes, no nitrates, phosphates, or chlorine, just pure H2O. Also has absolutely no taste and IMO is rather disgusting to drink as often city water, and even bottled water has impurities/minerals (some call if flavor :D). Depending on where you live, my city is only about 35 ppm out of the tap, but I've heard others on the forum with tap close to 300-500 ppm out of the tap, which really is not suitable to a marine tank, especially if you have inverts.
